Yeah, madman is right. Things do go back to normal. My mum has been gone for 11yrs now. Just every now and then i wish she were here still so she could meet my little kids and love them like she loved my big kids. My aunty does her best to take her place, and she even looks like my Mum, but its not quite the same. I will be devastated when she goes though.

Remember mah pokah scootah?
I just...bought a non-runner for parts. They're practically identical. Believe it, or not, $20. And no actual cash out of hand. We worked out a trade.:D Attachment 49376 I'd been having trouble cranking the original scooter, Scootio (thanx to some Dwellar for that!), and it didn't want to run right much past 25mph. Finally got to where it just wouldn't crank w/out starting fluid, and then just plain wouldn't crank at all. A new spark plug didn't change things. Then, after I'd tried once again to crank it, Popdigr up and swapped in the ignition coil from the junker. It now starts so quickly you hardly have time to get your finger off the starter button. I still think there's more power to be had on the top end, but after just a short run on flat ground she'll hit about 50+ mph now. :jig: |
That is excellent news!

You're gonna scoot your eye out. http://cellar.org/2012/nono.gif :haha:

I just....
decided to stop figure skating. I'm very sad about it, but I think it's the best decision. Not a lesson goes by when I don't cry about my lost skills and how hard it is to try and coax them back (physically and emotionally), and today I realized I spend most lessons watching the clock to see when the torture will be over. I'm stubborn, I hate to be beaten but all figure skaters find it harder as they age, and it's not supposed to be torture, so I'mm'a try and take it as a positive that I didn't have to wait until I snap some bone to get the hint that it's time |
Not quitting, changing course, allowing for circumstances, adjusting priorities, proactive injury prevention, realigning time allocation.

Could you maybe volunteer at the rink to help with teaching little kids how to do it or something? It'd kinda be like doing it, but without the pressure of having to actually do it.

Sorry monster, but I'm glad for you that you're making a decision with your eyes open. It sounds like this is best.
Completely different circumstances, but there are parallels: My FIL had been holding on to his independent living apartment while he's in the nursing home wing, just hoping that he'll get strong enough to go back to that apartment. He decided last week that he'll give up the apartment because he realizes that this is his new reality. But the good news is that it's a huge burden off his shoulders because he's not feeling that pressure to reach a goal that's unrealistic. He's in such a better mental state now. Like a changed man. I'm sorry that you are giving up this part of your life, but I'm hopeful for you that by getting rid of unrealistic goals, you are happier without that unnecessary pressure on yourself. |
Thanks all ...I have a new unrealistic goal ;) I hope that will help make it easier
