It's a big change but I like it SG... you remind me of Janice from Three's Company (did you guys get that show?).
Fantastic shot Glatt.
Gtown that's awful looking, I can't even imagine how it feels.

Just imagine each of those bumps contains a mass of seething, writhing, roiling, larva.

If only, at least then I'd be able to open my own bait shop :worm: :fish:

This is me RF yesterday. It's how long it takes me to get pictures off my camera. Closest to RFN I can usually get. My daughter took it. The two of us went for a hike up Bull Run Mountain. I'm sitting on a rock that's covered in chalky hawk shit.

glatt, that's a good shot. I was hiking with my brother this weekend over 12,000 feet, but didn't get any pictures of myself.

Not as much as you'd think. Or maybe I'm getting used to these kind of reactions. The biggest issue now is just being tired from all of this toxin running through me. Now (nearly 24 hours later) the swelling has evened out so now it looks like I have a Popeye sized calf (one leg only) and now I can see the pustules clearly and realize I probably took around 30 bites.

Tough little suckers, and I guess I'd do the same if a giant tried to crush me with his leg.

In the words of Kent Brockman, I, for one, welcome our new ant overlords.

Sounds like you could benifit from a shot of decadron and course of steroids from your doc. You may consider keeping an epi pen around the house.

SteveDallas 07-14-2008 10:27 AM

Mrs. Dallas used to have outbreaks like these. (Not anymore, thanks to treatments, shots, etc.) But the first time she broke out while we were visiting my parents, my mom freaked out and was talking about getting her to the emergency room. We were both, eh, it's no big deal. It was uncomfortable, and gross-looking, but you get used to it after a while.

I do have an Epi Pen at home and at work to be safe. Luckily I've never had breathing issues but I know it could happen.

When my face swelled up a few years ago they gave me a shot of something to help reduce it. Could have been decadron, not sure.

Yes, it was most likely decadron. If you did not have that heart racing feeling after the shot, if you did, then it would have been the epi.

Yep, that must have been it, no heart racing.

Ok, a bit over 30 hours since the brutal, unprovoked attack and my leg is still pretty swelled. Now, as SG so Britishly put it, I'm itching like buggery. But it should all be better and less nasty looking from here on out, but one last pic to sicken those who can be sickened. I don't know how I sat through that many bites before finally noticing...

I now return to lurking mode :)

Sundae 07-14-2008 07:36 PM

Blimey gtown.

Many thanks for the pics - grim as they are I love them.
It's exactly what my family do when faced with unexpected injury - take a picture and share it!

I am scratching on your behalf.
OUCH!

TheMercenary 07-14-2008 07:48 PM

Ants for sure. I have gotten those very same bites (without the swelling in the previous pics).

DucksNuts 07-14-2008 08:41 PM

Ohhhh, can I squeeze those for you gtown????

Glad to hear you are on the mend, and no need to go back to lurking.

Sundae, I like the colour and the scruffy look.
