What could possibly go wrong?

OK, what is this?
Green plastic, about 5 1/2 inches long and about 5/8 of an inch wide.

Oh, it's not what it says on the handle but is used in conjunction with that.

Bicycle tire lever.

Something to do with labels.

I'm going to guess a label peeler upper.

What Glatt said. It's a label lifter.

Yes, the Garvey Labelmatic embossed into the handle refers to one of those gun looking thingys that printed and applied price tags to everything in the supermarket. When the price changed up or down, this was the tool Garvey supplied for removing the old price sticker, probably for free.

It's a clever device, sharp enough to get under the sticker but not quite sharp enough to cut you or the product. Light weight, cheap to make, and pretty ergonomically designed for it's day... feels good in the hand.

I have a what is it. The catch is, I don't know what is it.

I think I know where is it. I'm assuming it's in or near Albuquerque, New Mexico since it's a screen grab from "Breaking Bad". Please, no spoilers, I have the last two episodes left to watch yet. I've roamed around Albuquerque via GoogleEarth a little, with no luck.

It looks to be a monument, or memorial, or maybe an art installation of some ilk.

If it helps, and if you know the show, this the place Jesse was supposed to meet the man who was to give him a new identity. Walt later meets the same guy at the same place after everything turns to shit in the third-to-last episode.

So...What is it?

...people don't understand what they are looking at when looking at the tombstone-like concrete projections on the dam face. What the heck are they?

If water flows over the top of the dam (which, in these years of extraordinary-drought, occurs almost never) the concrete projections break the flow of water, so it can't gain too much speed and kinetic energy, and thus blunts water's power to undermine the dam and cause damage downstream. They look like a very-clever engineering adaptation to solve a problem that is particularly acute when dealing with water flow in the unconsolidated sand and gravel that compose much of the soil on the mesas bordering the Rio Grande Valley.

Yes, Dwellars assembled, you're right. I do have too much time on my hands.

One of those jet exhaust deflectors at an airport?
Just wondering...

glatt 05-29-2014 01:59 PM

11 minutes is hardly a lot of time

Well done with the Google Fu.

Here's the view from the air, if one can't be bothered to follow Carruthers' link. Interesting that they build houses directly in line with a spillway.

Holy smokes! How's this for a match?

Attachment 47782

It's almost the same exact frame!!

I have seen Carruthers' Google Fu, and it is strong.

Good job! And thanks!
