Looks like wood.
A baby gate for a doorway/hallway?

BigV 05-22-2019 01:39 PM

It IS wood, BUT that is not the function of what is in the picture.

The wood lattice looks like it could fold but there's no marks on the wood indicating it has. So it just holding against that canvas from moving in... or maybe down. That's why it needs the stringers for strength.

This is the correct answer!

Diaphone Jim 05-23-2019 11:40 AM

Darned if an image search for "yurt" doesn't turn up the lattice as nearly universal.
Fooled me.

xoxoxoBruce 05-23-2019 03:29 PM

Yeah...

A traditional yurt or ger is a portable, round tent covered with skins or felt and used as a dwelling by several distinct nomadic groups in the steppes of Central Asia. The structure comprises an angled assembly or latticework of pieces of wood or bamboo for walls, a door frame, ribs, and a wheel possibly steam-bent. Wikipedia
I looked at an ad for a new 16 footer, it said can be assembled with little help in 48 hours.

Does anyone know what this thing is about, it's appeared as the symbol preceding the name of several websites I've visited for years.

beauregaardhooligan 06-02-2019 07:59 AM

Does it matter what browser you use?

xoxoxoBruce 06-02-2019 09:22 AM

Ah, bingo, never thought of that.
Yes it shows up in Chrome, the same sites in IE show a little haloed e.
Thank you Sir. :notworthy

One explanation could be the Earth/globe symbol/icon shows up if you have Google predictions turned on. Give me a few and I'll edit in some references.

Quote:

The "star" icon appears next to bookmarked sites.
The "clock" icon appears next to sites from your browsing history.
The 'magnifying glass' icon appears next to searches, including related searches if you have the prediction service turned on.
The "globe" icon appears next to related sites, when you have the prediction service turned on.
The "box" icon appears next to web apps you've installed from Chrome Web Store.

xoxoxoBruce 06-02-2019 09:58 AM

That doesn't look like any of those items to me, but you're probably right.
Lemme check.

It shows up next to only 8 out of dozens of bookmarked sites.
In IE-10(not windows 10) it shows the IE symbol on the same 8 sites.
In Chrome, with all the options except spell check turned off there's no change.

I still think it looks nothing like a Star, Clock, Glass, Globe, or Box.
Hmm... I guess it could be a lens without a frame? But that's turned off??

Undertoad 06-02-2019 10:34 AM

other people are noticing this

Undertoad 06-02-2019 10:39 AM

but that link points to another support link which points to this one where they claim it's just a default chrome favicon
