at least they are giving people with backgrounds a second chance. here it's damn near impossible to find a job with a record. even if, as in my case, innocently proven guilty.

yeah. here in texas before i was released from prison they took dna from me. i'm all for it. i don't break the law i'm a good citizen and hell, the way i feel about it is this....if you are so worried about your dna on record? then what the heck are you hiding or doing to make you worried about it? yeah true we are becoming more of a socialistic state but someone somewhere jacked it up for the rest of us. so it's necessary imo.

really? i mean com'on. it helps to have that data in the database. for all the f'ed up individuals that i ran into in prison....yeah, they need to be profiled. i dunno just voicing my opinion. to hear this from a cop is....well to say the least awkward. if someone, like i said before, is committing crimes that ensue the use of dna well then they deserve to be caught and dna can help that. then on the flip side, it can exonerate the innocent. my case was different. already posted about that but mine was self defense that got well....jacked up. she was the instigator the abuser the violent one. do me a favor sarge....when you have a domestic call make sure that the right person gets arrested. that woman fucked my life up sir. and the HPD didn't help at all. man. jail. period. he must have done what she said. wrong. i have a video i'd like you to see.....pm me if interested. it's post conviction but nevertheless worthy.

If it were just convicts, that's an invasion of privacy and I think the data should be purged once that individual returns to society. That said, I can only be so sympathetic with criminals. If they're really sampling the DNA from all newborns, then it's terrible beyond imagining.

How would someone's grandchildren feel about being held in suspicion, or blacklisted from certain jobs, because of what their ancestors did? Don't tell me it won't happen. I would be surprised if it didn't. Hell, we already do it just based on "history."

i see your point and agree with it. personally? i'm not sympathetic to repeat offenders. i ran into several people who, like me, did not deserve to be locked up. but the majority in prison? ohhhh yeah. when and if they make parole...only a matter of time before they are locked up again. why? one word: institutionalized. they can't handle freedom and wind up back behind bars where they are, well, most comfortable. it's sad really. some get locked back up on purpose because they can't find a decent job and would rather be locked up and have 3 hots and a cot than sleep in a shelter or starve so they will go commit another felony just to get back in the system. met several who did just that and for that reason. personally i'd rather sleep in a shelter or starve. but that's just me. back to the point of the tread though, dna profiling isn't so bad imo. i can certainly understand your point of view of it being intrusive and as sarge said "the ultimate invasion of privacy" and i do agree. my point here is that with the use of dna people that go and say commit rape on a rhesus monkey held by a nun whistling dixie will be caught. (sorry for the what i think is a funny analogy) either way, yes it's i violation of privacy but on the other hand it's useful.

As is the case with many things... some of you are not thinking more than one move down the road here. If you follow my blog than you know that I warn about gateway laws. To sum it up...this means that "we the people" would never agree to "plan C" from the jump. But by passing laws that take us to C by first going through "A" and "B" we end up fucked before we know it. All of you have heard the stupid analogy about boiling the frog...this can be applied here as well.

Sure, we are all for catching criminals. But, plthijinx...are you not considered a criminal?? Weather you did it or not. You have already expressed concerns about this keeping you from living life the way you did before your conviction. I can not see how DNA profling will make this any better for you. Why? These people are locating and identifying "criminal genes" in peoples DNA. Hell the second guy got a reduced sentance because he was "predestined" by his genes to be a murderer. Now that worked out pretty swell for him on his sentance...but it will not work as well when he goes out for the McJob.

What happens when your daughter goes out for her first job at Wal-Mart and they tell her to fuck off cuz she has the shoplifting gene. Anytime you give a method of control to one group over another it will be exploited... and to think...we used to have to invent relgions for this kind of nonsense.

I think men should be judged by their actions. Each time. Just cuz I fucked your mother last year does not mean I will now. Hell... now I'm engaged so things are differant. While I had it in me to fuck someones mother before...now I will not. Has my DNA changed? I fucking doubt it.

We choose our actions everyday. While DNA profling might be useful in many cases... I think the bigger picture will be more harm than good and of course the loss of freedoms and opportunities for a great many folks.

alright true. you make a tangible point here. but the problem has already gone through plan "A" and "B" and now unfortunately we are at plan "C" due to someone fucking up along the way to ruin it for the rest of us. i say again my point is that the criminals should be profiled. yes. even me. i was innocent but still i went through the system therefore i am in it and profiled. if i had a criminal mind, which i don't, i would think twice about committing a crime knowing that my dna is on file. then again....the average IQ in texas prisons is 85. they're fucking stupid to begin with. i digress.
