Convictions: Michael Magidson, 25, and Jose Merel, 26, were convicted of second-degree murder in Araujo's killing and were sentenced in January 2006 to 15 years to life in prison. Jason Cazares, 26, who struck a deal with prosecutors last month by pleading no contest to a lesser charge, received a six-year sentence. A fourth defendant, Jaron Nabors, 22, who testified against the others, is expected to be sentenced on May 22 to 11 years in prison. http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/articl...GT3GTKOG36.DTL WebSite: The list "Five Facts Missing", above, is from this web page: http://www.horizonsfoundation.org/pa...aujo_5keyfacts Lifetime Movie: The life of Gwen Araujo, the Newark boy who identified and lived as a girl and was killed because of it, is being made into a TV movie by Lifetime. That may seem like a racy topic for a network whose forte is family stories -- and is most popular in the American heartland -- but network executives believe it's high time the story of Gwen, and those like her, be told from a family's point of view. ... http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/articl...sn=001&sc=1000 |
