Haven't they all? I mean, why hate Halloween any more than any other holiday?

Today I learned exactly what goulash is, and it looks pretty tasty.

lhatcher 10-30-2006 03:59 PM

Well yeah.. most holidays are played out, just with tomorrow being Halloween and I learned that I'm really tired of playing the game. I don't want to go answer the door 80 times in one evening.

Aliantha 10-30-2006 05:16 PM

I have learned that I'm very glad to be Australian - where halloween isn't celebrated at all hardly. :)

capnhowdy 10-30-2006 08:17 PM

That life's hard. Even harder if you're stupid.

Thank you Redd Foxx.

fargon 10-30-2006 08:23 PM

I have learned, that even though you do what you love and would do it for free, bosses are still a$$holes.

Aliantha 10-30-2006 08:33 PM

I have learned not to think of my boss as an arsehole - since he's married to my cousin.

Aliantha 10-31-2006 09:49 PM

I have learned that while conservatives in general seem to have their heads fairly well embedded up their arseholes, there are times when some do extricate themselves from their precariously dark position.

yesman065 11-01-2006 07:12 AM

Wow I take that personally Ali - hey anybody got a towel?

yesman065 11-01-2006 07:17 AM

I came to the cellar with an issue - now I have learned that I have many many issues.

Aliantha 11-01-2006 04:29 PM

You do yesman? Is that because it's still dark or because you can now see the light? ;)

Cicero 11-01-2006 08:33 PM

I have learned......that everything I think I have learned should be forgotten.

yesman065 11-02-2006 07:07 AM

Well Ali - to tell you the truth - I am not really sure, but the fact that I have "many" issues was disconcerting at first. Now I see that my issues aren't really all that bad anyway - I'm learn-ing that its who l am and thats OK.

Aliantha 11-02-2006 07:10 PM

I have learned that yesman may be more compassionate than I first thought. ;)

JayMcGee 11-02-2006 07:19 PM

I have learned nothing......

(guess its a dung-beetle for me next time round...)

Aliantha 11-02-2006 08:10 PM

stinky pomms...

JayMcGee 11-02-2006 08:19 PM

.....but, looking on the bright-side, I guess its still better than being down-under....

zippyt 11-03-2006 12:05 AM

Well I guess that would depend what ( or who ) you were down-under... Now Wouldn't it ???

Aliantha 11-03-2006 12:29 AM

I have learned that it's much better to live down under than to be a stinky pomm. :)

bluecuracao 11-03-2006 01:28 AM

OK...what's a pomm???

Person from England as referred to by a person from Australia.

Known for their extensive wingeing, soap aversion and second rate cricketing abilities! :p

bluecuracao 11-03-2006 01:52 AM

Thank you, and please bear with me here...what is wingeing?

DucksNuts 11-03-2006 04:57 AM

wingeing = whine, whine, whine, bellyache, bellyache, bellyache.

One of the good thinga about pommie buggers is they have a similar sense of humour to us aussies and...well....Robbie Williams  :heartpump :doit:

bluecuracao 11-03-2006 05:03 AM

Well, not too be too annoying with the questions, I googled RW...and yes, he's really hot, even if he uses more hairspray than I do.

DucksNuts 11-03-2006 05:08 AM

ohhh yes, he's super shaggable!!! A few of us Aussie girls are off to see him in December.

He always reveals the hotel he is staying at during his concert, so you know where I will be afterwards :)

yesman065 11-03-2006 07:02 AM

Wow Ali - I thought I was a compassionate person - Oh well guess l can ad that to my list now too. Great, something else l get to work on, as if l needed another issue :eyebrow:

Shawnee123 11-03-2006 01:22 PM

I have learned that some people are just plain mean.

yesman065 11-03-2006 01:24 PM

Shawnee123 - Are you referring to me?

Shawnee123 11-03-2006 01:25 PM

NO no no! Not at all. You're a good egg, yesman! :)

yesman065 11-03-2006 01:27 PM

Oh I was gonna say. . . . I have been feeling a little on edge lately, and thought I may have offended you in some way. OH well here goes. . . .

. . . . that I am "a good egg"

Nah, I'm edgy too, and you don't typically cold shoulder me. Anyhoo, what did the blue highlighted part mean? I'm a bit slow on the uptake today.

yesman065 11-03-2006 01:38 PM

What I learned. I am trying to learn something positive everyday and I chose your words for today

Shawnee123 11-03-2006 01:52 PM

See, I was being dense.

It's good to learn or do something positive everyday. I am trying that myself.

A few years ago I made a New Year's resolution much different than the typical "lose weight" "stop smoking" "quit stabbing people in the grocery line" resolutions that none of us EVER keep. I decided to make it a point to compliment people to their boss if I get good service, or write something nice on a comment card. That year, I wrote a comment card at the grocery about some young man who had been out of his way kind, and multitudes more. It has since become a way of life. I think I"ve always been a nice person for the most part, but to make a conscious attempt to show others I appreciate them really brought some good things out.

So, these days I still do that. I wrote a nice email to one of our IT guys for his efficient and painless switchover to my new computer. I courtesy copied to his boss. In our institution it is known as "valuing people" initiative, and I know how I feel when I am appreciated and recognized.

These are positive actions that make me feel good, no matter how freaking goofy my own life is right now. :)

yesman065 11-03-2006 01:56 PM

That is awesome - I think I'll follow your lead. It is so hard in this negative environment where I work to remain upbeat. Anyway, I like the idea and I'm goin with it.

busterb 12-26-2007 10:44 AM

I learned to not close bedroom door on a cold morning, to raise heat in other rooms. Then forgetting to open before bed time. BRrrr!

When you grab your Ipod and Plug it into your wifes New Ipod Jam box to go Do IT ,
Pick your Play list CAREFULLY !!!!!!
Don't want any FMJ sound bites cropping up as things are heating up!!!

Aliantha 12-30-2007 10:41 PM

I have learned that Christmas is a joke and there's really no point except for the kids.

The end.

DucksNuts 12-31-2007 04:55 AM

I have learned that *some* 15 year old girls are not much different to 4 year olds.

I also learned that putting make up on when its 40+ degrees c, is a big waste of time.

kerosene 12-31-2007 04:41 PM

I have learned that I enjoy 70 degree weather much more than 10 degree weather with snow and wind.

HungLikeJesus 12-31-2007 06:08 PM

I have learned that time slips away when perusing the Cellar, and that I'll have to stay late tonight (New Year's Eve) to make it up.

Aliantha 12-31-2007 07:17 PM

I have learned that good service is hard to find.

Drax 01-01-2008 05:06 PM

I have learned that it's not easy to be a non-conformist, even in an internet community without many rules.

classicman 01-01-2008 05:35 PM

heck drax, look at radar! then again look at all of us, we are probably all outside the social norms. Thats why the cellar rocks!

Aliantha 01-01-2008 05:43 PM

I have learned that Drax feels a bit on the outter after recent discussions.

I have also learned that it doesn't matter what anyone else says, you just have to follow your own path anyway. You don't have any other choice.

Aliantha 01-01-2008 06:25 PM

I have learned that it's best to refrain from introspection when depressed. This is not a new lesson...I learn it anew each time I realise I am depressed:P Realising it = first step out of it.

monster 01-09-2008 02:08 PM

How do you realise you're depressed if you don't introspect? :p

Aliantha 01-09-2008 02:34 PM

I have learned that some people are idiots.

monster 01-09-2008 02:37 PM

moi?

Aliantha 01-09-2008 02:38 PM

nope. not this time. ;)

monster 01-09-2008 03:15 PM

I was made aware of this game, and scored a not wholly satisfactory mid to high 90s on each try. So I went off and played those drag and drop state/country.province games (http://www.sheppardsoftware.com/), and now I can do this: (you think that looks a doddle -you try :p)

glatt 01-13-2008 04:57 PM

Damn, that's hard. Part of the problem is that the map is so small on my monitor, but the main problem is that I'm daft.

I got to level 6, with 28,224 points. Africa killed me.
