I was thinking about the old days working at the bar. We had the Cyclone pinball machine, the greatest pinball game OF ALL TIME. The pinball machine always stayed on, to keep high scores. So every now and then as we were setting up in the mornings, for lunch, the pinball machine would make some of its noises.

It'd be dead quiet and you'd hear "HEY YOU, WITH THE FACE!"

And when we'd go other places with the owner he'd say out of nowhere "Hey YOU with the face!"

So I googled it and here's the game. No hey you with the face but it sure brings back memories.

Har!

The one we always used to play on was The Terminator pinball machine. I can still remember the music :p

Your post reminds me of a line from Being Human. One of the nurses seeks clarification from George about a note on someone's medical card, showing what time they're to have their next meds, because she can't read the other nurse's handwriting. George tells her to ask her colleague, but as the nurse tells him, she's gone for a drink with his mate. 'What mate?' he asks her, 'Oh, y'know,' she says, 'Him with the face'.

The Who, me?

:)

All kinds of face references, I saw them when I googled!

You know how you can't remember someone's name and you say "you know, what's her face?" My friend in college would say "what's her head" and it has stuck with me.

I say "what's his nuts..." But I say it for women too.

In the 'Good Music on YouTube' thread, I've mentioned the group Blackberry Smoke. One of their songs (Good One Coming On) contains the verse:

"...throw in Ray Wylie Hubbard,
sing along to "Redneck Mother",
any blues I had before are gone..."

Well, I didn't know who he was, and had never heard of the song, which is actually "Up Against the Wall Redneck Mother". So...To the YouTube!!!

While looking for Ray and the redneck song, I came across this vid of Ray Wylie Hubbard explaining what went on to cause this song to be written. The story is told at Jerry Jeff Walker's Birthday Bash a few years ago (I think).

It gets funnier every time I watch it.

Every great story should start: "One time we was at this hootenanny..."

I have a friend who will gaze wistfully into the distance then say, "I'll never forget what's her name."

This guy is a hoot. I think I have a new comedy crush. ;)

footfootfoot 08-05-2011 11:29 AM

He reminds me a little bit of Ze Frank. Less full of himself though.

it's about the monkey in the masthead, ain't it?

ain't it?

Also, that part about Catherine... completely true. Addictive.

infinite monkey 08-05-2011 01:49 PM

The monkey doesn't hurt! Branding!

Him imitating his girlfriend about the Catharine game. Too funny.

And Casey Anthony "ahh she's still doin' stuff, and drinkin' stuff...I like starbucks...I'm angry."

I liked it. But it hurt my eyes; talk about death of a thousand cuts.
I also think it might have given me epilepsy.
