But if that's the case, why didn't the container sink and the Doritos float ashore alone? It had to go over in deep water.
|
Either the Doritos kept it afloat or the doors opened when it hit the beach.

Picture sitting on some forsaken 10 foot diameter one-palm-tree island and a container of Doritos floats up.
I think I'd kill myself... :dead3: |
"WIIIIIIIILLLLLLLLLLLLLLSSSSSSSSSOOOOOOONNNNNNN...oh poo poo on Wilson, I got me some Doritos!"

RichLevy - I haven't found anywhere like the Cellar anywhere in the world. I do post on a couple of boards closer to home, but they are topic related and I periodically give up on them in disgust because the average IQ is far lower than here. Here you don't have to wade through posts of txtspk, or "OMG your so fit hehe". Also, although the mods here do a wonderful job, the community is reasonably self-policing. It's so frustrating to have sensible, well-reasoned posts disappear from other forums because later posters have subverted the thread into unpleasantness (unpleasantries?) But I guess I'm preaching to the converted. |
Reminds me of The Firesign Theatre, "And their's hamburger all over the highway in Mystic, Connecticut."

what worries me, with 600+ containers going over the side is how much "up and out" cargo went over, and idiots opening those containers...
There are certain containers that are manifested to only be shipped UP (on deck, at the top of the stack of containers) and OUT (at the edge of the ship) - the idea being in a BAD storm, or in case of leaks/fires anything else, they can be jettisoned - basically to save the life of the crew/anyone in the area. You know, shipping things like chipfab gases (which are TRUELY nasty - 1 or 2 of them actually qualify as nerve gas) |
Chipfab gases? Gases used to manufacture electronics?

Interesting point about the up and outs..
Arsine is a favorite chip gas.. Gaseous arsenic. Another is Silane.. Spontaneously combusts on contact with air. Result: Smoke that's molecular glass. Sweet stuff! |
