And remember, you can never have too much water in a nuclear reactor.

Words of wisdom, folks, words of wisdom.

My dad is having hand surgery today. Waited until after golf season. Last night he seemed pretty sure he was going to have no problem recuperating and I hope he's right, but I'm not so sure.

I hope all goes well Zippy!

On the primitve archery forum a guy was asking about how soon after open heart surgery he'd be able to go bow hunting. His doc said 3 months. WTF? Also the guy was 51. Yikes. Then another guy answered and said, he'd had OHS last year and he was up and at it in 6 months or something but he was 30. WTFF? Who has OHS at 30 AND is a bowhunter?

I hope everything goes smoothly for your dad, even though this is the shoulder thread. He should really start a hand thread, just sayin. The hand has a lot fewer heart valves and sternums and what not so he should be good to go. (I'm not a doctor, but I did play doctor as a child)

My dad is 73, and if he had to be cooped up he would go nutso.

Thanks, I'm a little worried. He does a lot of woodworking in the winter, and I hope he doesn't have too much pain. A woman here at work had the same surgery and said it was rough.

Maybe I'll start a thread: My Dad's Hand.

Someone born with a heart defect so kept himself as healthy as possible so when the time came for surgery, he'd be in the best place possible?

I think that this is a good opportunity for your dad to learn to operate the table saw with his feet.

infinite monkey 11-09-2011 11:07 AM

Well, I did inherit my dad's "asparagus toes" and they're pretty agile. I wouldn't put it past him!

Clodfobble 11-09-2011 11:33 AM

Asparagus toes, huh? I must have blueberry toes then.

infinite monkey 11-09-2011 11:37 AM

Yeah, they're not green, they're just shaped like asparagus. Or so my mom has always said. My best friend in HS called me asparagus toes.

Are your toes blue, or just round?

monster 11-09-2011 11:39 AM

We need to see the Asparagus toes!

You're not replaceable, Zip

Good luck with the last part. Seriously, plan on at least a week off before you even try to get in a car. Don't even try to drive yourself.

How bad a tear do you have?
