That explains the smell.

We have a pirate theme in school at the moment.
I spent the afternoon helping to make (and sometimes sneakily making) pirate cutlasses.

I only took over when a child was getting upset. The rest of the time I was just lending a hand. Gutted that this didn't leave me enough time to make my own though!

I volunteer two days a week at a local school. I'm in Year 2, which is 6-7 year olds. I'm motivated because being a Teaching Assistant is something I was interested in anyway and I wanted to try it out, but mostly because they have all this cool stuff!

We have FOUR live chicks in the classroom right now.
So cute.

This arvo I am mostly making my own cutlass (if it's any good I will take a picture for you) and I'm planning on putting in an extra day this week. I'll go in tomorrow to make up for the day I missed before Easter. And to show off my cutlass.

Bruce - if'n it's made of card and foil it's acceptable even in this country. I think. I'm a white female, I reckon I'll get away with it....

Deep joy! Walking through the park with my cousin's great-grand daughter aged two, talking duck (quackery) and squirrel and plucking tiny fistfulls of blossom from the cherry and almond trees. And the sun has shone and shone and - yes - shone.

Life is so good on days like these.:biggrin:

my daughter just called me up and played me the riff from 'glycerine' (that my son taught her) over the speaker phone. Nice.

To counteract what is really pissing me off today, I made an appointment for a one hour massage using the gift card I got last November for my birthday.

They better have a slobber bucket!

Only 2 chicks now.
The lady who supplied the eggs (a parent of a child in the class) only had one hatchling.
So we "donated" the two yellow chicks back - they need to socialise in order to be happy and healthy.

These are our two remaining.
They seem to get cuter the older they get!
