I have already discussed somewhere around here how we broke the younger one of his overly picky eating habits. (I don't consider allowing mild levels of self-starvation to be child abuse, myself. They'll eat when they're hungry.) But the drinking/swallowing thing has proven to be much harder. Believe me, we've tried. What makes it hard is neither one of them "knows" how to swallow. I think it was HLJ who was mentioning the phenomenon--if you tell them to swallow, they just stare at you blankly. They aren't consciously aware of how the food gets down their throat. We've practiced chugging liquids so they can really feel each big swallow, but still I get the vacant look.

I remember "not knowing how to" blow my nose...

The human body was designed to last about 40 years under extremely difficult conditions.

Now you'll be amazed... the foods we eat are *mostly* water.

Yep. So if we actually ate a healthy, raw food diet, we wouldn't need to be constantly guzzling all this water.

I eat raw meat and guzzle blood. [Ozzie]

Clodfobble 06-09-2007 10:46 AM

But Ronco said my home food dehydrator would make delicious and healthy snacks! Noooo! Ron Popeil has lied to me again!!

Cloud 06-09-2007 10:48 AM

WEll, if you juice, you get your food and water together! I recommend, "The Raw Food Diet" by Natalia Rose. I drink the Green Lemonade from there regularly. It's yummy, even if it does have kale in it.

Flint 06-10-2007 08:22 PM

I don't understand juicing. It seems like you're taking healthy food and then just removing all the fiber.

bluecuracao 06-10-2007 10:23 PM

Yeah, me neither...unless it's the same as puree-ing, so the fiber's still in there.

Flint 06-10-2007 10:26 PM

Now, my wife used to take the fruit pulp, dry it, and make rabbit treats out it. But still, I'd rather get that fiber myself.

you can use it to make paper, too... and potpourri ...if you;re ghey

Flint 06-10-2007 10:28 PM

That explains why you know that.

lumberjim 06-10-2007 10:33 PM

i also know that you can escape earth's orbit if you strap enough rocket propulsion to your ass.....but that doesn't make me an astronaut.

your mother was an astronaut, btw.
