I think the Cellar is fairly unique in the way it *operates*.

On other forums, people feel the need to respond to every single post and every comment made. You get a lot of "me too" or "oh that sucks" comments....thats not so here and I wonder if thats why some people feel they dont fit it??

I have never found the cellar to be a tough crowd, and I'm in no way an intellectual contributor....I'm more fluffy (insert batting eyelashes smiley here<<<<can we find one of them please???)

I did check out the lay of the land before I jumped in though... I did land in a bit of a shit fight with the influx of AG'ers...but I made it through :D

So in some sense I should have never opened this thread. But I'm glad I did, because it meant I got to read Sundae Girl's magisterial reply in #6.

I have to tell you, you won't get very far here unless you can write better than this. Nobody's going to hand your post back to you marked up in red ink over the occasional typo (well, almost nobody) (well, hardly ever) but if it hurts to read it, most people won't. If you take that as an insult, it's not intended as such--it's just how it is, and not just here. Hell, I've said the same thing in practically the same words to my own daughter.

May I ask why you want to be accepted by the "popular group" (quotes used because I don't believe there is such a thing)? I'm not trying to be a smartass, I'm serious. Why? What do you see that you're interested in "joining"? I'm not saying you shouldn't want to, or that you're not welcome. (I personally love fresh blood.) But I'm curious what the attraction is for you, since it's obviously something that agitates you.

Group acceptance is such a powerful thing to some people that they just can't get past it. Do they like me? I couldn't stand it if they didn't! Do they want me around? I really really hope they do!

But to other people, this kind of need is non-existent; they just seem to present themselves, and if you don't like them, it's your problem.

Is it better to be in group A or group B?

I think it's important to understand that most people are on some level of 'newbie-ness' Most people are trying to just find footing. Some of us arn't even a year old yet. You might get some clues by reading join dates.ie( like hawkeye for one) It is what is. There are no secret rites to get in. You don't have to kiss anyones ass..promise.

SO I just want to tell all you new ones that you are noticed. I'd throw you a welcome party with cake and balloons if it make you feel better. I feel your frustration.
