Awesome! Sounds cheery actually, and like it is a great start! Good for you Sundae, and I'm glad you got your comp. back, as I was under the impression it was gone forever. I don't know why.

brilliant news Sundae *smiles* message me with your new addy hon:)

I am happy to be alive.
I've been having some physical problems that are concerning. I had bronchitis almost a year ago and swollen nodes under my arm. Mamo and chest x ray says all 'ok' but I have had a constant cough for months. I have a swollen shoulder which an MRI says is a muscle twice the size of the other. I will be going to a specialist for that as well. I had an absessed tooth in August and the antibiotics took away about half the pain. I've asked her twice for antibiotics but she says NO because I don't have a fever. My primary doctor is an idiot and I have been chosing specialists like someone grasping at straws. A lung doctor and a physical -whatever. After that I am going to an immunologist and a spin clinic until my symptoms are resolved. I am firing my doctor and no thanks to her I've had to do all the footwork myself. I hope maybe it's just something simple like an infection. 11 months and counting so I am glad to be alive. ( I'm a little scared. shh don't tell .) |
Uhhh...This does not sound happy.
How sad! Oooh! I hope you get it figured out sky!! I have fired doctors and specialists too. (when my husband went through his lump) I'm glad you're glad to be alive. Everyone should be counting their lucky stars. :) |
What was his lump?
I love stars. If I lived in your state I would have more to count! |
Sky I'm happy that you can see the ositive in this.
|
I think in su__ort of Sundea Girl, we should all sto_ using the "_" key for the rest of the day.
|
Are you taking the iss?
|
:oOh, no.:o
It's just Mountain Dew. |
Phew
I thought I was in a Frankie Goes to Hollywood video for a moment |
"The Jerk" is on cable right now. I am in near delirious happiness because of this.
|
Just this ashtray. And this paddleball game. The ashtray, the paddleball game, and that's all I need..... and this chair.
|
Skysidhe. I'm sorry to hear about your health problems. It can be very frustrating when your body seems like an enemy.

Having to mime cashier-type questions to people who can't understand you is rather humiliating, and I haven't had a spoken conversation with anyone in three days. Today, I could talk. It was GREAT. |
We got our first snow of the season last night.
Snow! Snow! But I hope it's gone by tomorrow. |
The winter residents of the lake - pelicans, herons, cormorants, grebes (?), egrets, and coots - are returning. Nothing starts my day better than a flotilla of pelicans cruising by.
|
Flotilla? Is that like a tortilla?

Going to see Stomp this weekend, with my mom and sis-in-law and nieces. I've seen it before, but it's going to be even more fun watching the nieces reactions!
|
That makes me wanna dance.
Hey, do you guys love me now that I can DaNcE? :) |

snow! snow! I love snow. We never get any. |
Ooohhh, I just thought of something: this college rarely ever closes for weather reasons, yet I see the college where I'll be working closing a lot for weather reasons.
Heeheee, already planning my days off! |
Sleepin in, warm bed....hot chocolate... hmm :( I never get that.
|
Down comforter, blizzard outside, television, computer games...
One more for the "pro" column! |
Big fuzzy throw blanket, hot tea, a good book... damn, I miss winters in Western NY. Here, there's a dusting of snow on the road, everything shuts down. Up there, it takes at LEAST three feet of snow for people to even CONSIDER closing roads/schools/businesses!!

A couple of things that made me happy today (in between the things causing irritation or dismay):
The sound of Pilau eating...munch, munch, crunch, crunch *scraping of bowl across floor* crunch, crunch, munch, munch. Ends on a burp. A tasty meal: baked potato with butter and tuna/mayo mix with chopped spring onion and chilli. The moment when I decided I wasn't doing any more work and was just going to chill and watch TV. *smiles* it really is the little things. |

I think she's saying that's what Pilau was eating.
That dog is spoilt. |

I'm not far from case. She probably got some too (at the new house).

Saturday, they had over a foot in Billings, MT.
|
It won't be making me particularly happy while I'm making it, but afterward I will enjoy a piece of warm apple pie! Now if only I could find some cinnamon ice cream to have with it.
|
Holding hands with Tink.
:heartpump |

w-wait a minute......when did it become Pilau's tuna/mayo mix? I didn't get that memo...
But yes *smiles* that's exactly it Limey. Baked potato, with a filling: tuna, mayo, chopped spring onions (scallions?) and chopped chillis (chilli peppers), the really little ones. Quote:
The potato isn't baked with the tuna. The potato is baked, and then cut in two, bit of butter rubbed onto the potato and then the filling (in this case a mix of tuna, mayonaise, chopped scallions and cjhopped chilli peppers) in heaped onto it. |
Went to the opening of Festivals of Light at the Discover Story Centre in Stratford today, that quite a few of our artists have been working on. It was absolutely gorgeous and reminded me again why we cut the artists so much slack when they are behaving badly. The whole centre is really exciting and made me want to either be a child again, or take some children along.
In fact I've got a date for my child mentoring interview set now - November 7th. I'm going to try to be calm about it as I'm either right for it or I'm not and they are the experts. But I know I will cry if I don't get through. |
SG...DONT worry. I've been through those interviews and I can tell that you will fit the bill with no problem. All they are looking for is a sensible, stable and giving person...which you are.
Oh...and they are looking for someone who will truly commit to the program. This interview is as much for you as it is for them. |
Thanks Pico!
Well, I have my backup plan of volunteering at the cat centre. Diz is currently under the duvet tent I've created with my knees to prop up the laptop. He's cleaning himself and sometimes I get a paw pressed against my leg, sometimes warm fur and sometimes his flicky ears. That makes me very happy too. |

Confirmed.
 |
I like a good tuna melt, so I thought Dana's dinner sounded pretty good.
Though I'm also partial to cheese and crumbled bacon on baked potato. |
Tuna on a baked potato is perfectly normal. When my wife and I were courting, this is what she would feed me when I would be at her place. Although to be fair, I was convinced that she didn't know how to cook. So maybe it's not such a good example.
The chili peppers in tuna is an abomination though. |

Tuna with chilli peppers is fine
Tuna chilli is fine* As sandwich or salad ingredients they are lovely. BUT Tuna or tuna & mayo (regardless of other toppings) on a jacket potato is not. I think I have explained this before. There are a few - a very few - cold toppings which are acceptable on a jacket potato. Cheese is one, due to its melting qualities, where it apes butter, potato's natural mate. Amongst the banned toppings are mayo, anything containing mayo, coleslaw and cottage cheese. Even spring onions are suspect, although they would be acceptable on top of a hot filling (although why you'd choose a filling that needed spring onions on top is questionable in itself) Do try to take note of this in future. It's one of the things that will identify you when the revolution comes. * obviously chilli made with tuna and served hot on a spud is not an abomination - especially if topped with cheese |
A new computer with SOUND.
Until last Thursday I was the last person in the world with a mute computer. It had a soundcard once, but that got fried by a lightning strike. My blessed mother has very kindly invested in a new piece of hardware for me (partly to enable me to do some internet research for her, so I will be asking questions later, folks!). Meanwhile :hedfone: :D |
This is all you need to hear.

WOW That was FAB. LJ and SG singing the Christmas song, just for me. Thank you guys! Now I know that Christmas is on its way! |
Shameless self promotion of a 2 year old video I admit :)
But something to be considered again alongside Secret Santa I feel. Especially as more Dwellars are now happy to video... |
I'm happy because I seem to have survived the bulk of this rather ridiculously busy day.
|
I had chips for tea:)
I went to the village chippy and got a portion of chips with jumbo sausage and a tub of gravy. Mmmmm. Oh, and I got 'scraps' as well (that's one for the brits....possibly only one for the northerners...probably call it 'bits' elsewhere). |
I could eat a portion of chips right now.
But they're so hit & miss round here. Well, I mean Greenwich - I haven't even seen chips here! Good 'babs though :) Scraps = grim Ne'er mind, eh? |

Baked potatoes are the canvas upon which the true culinary artists, Irish though they might be, create their masterpieces. We once had a twice baked potato party where we baked a pile of potatoes and everyone brought fillings to mix with the spuds. Asparrowgusts, oil cured black olives, and romano cheese with butter Black trumpet mushrooms and cream cheese Capers, anchovies, hot red pepper Dandelion greens, braised with balsamic vinegar and roasted red peppers You get the gist. |
