 Thanks!

Was told today to quit running for awhile if I don't want to end up with full blown pneuminia. :(

2007 was just as great as 2006. Maybe even better, as the weather was perfect...sunny, upper 40's and very little breeze. Unfortunately Stimpy twisted her knee just past the halfway point, and has decided that she won't be doing this again next year. :( So, expect another APB in 2008, cuz unless I'm pregnant, I'm doing it again!! Yeeha!

Links to official pictures: Juice and The Des Moines Register. I need to get mine scanned in, then will post those asap.

OK folks, time to strap on the running shoes and mud flaps!! This year's should be extra muddy thanks to Mother Nature. Stimpy is out, but I have at least 5 people from work interested in possibly joining me. Any Cellarites this year? C'mon, you know ya wanna!

Here is the training plan that officially starts today, and the link to the race in case you might be interested. :D

Bah, piece of cake... I'll even give you a head start. Go ahead. I'll catch up...;)

Your plan assumes a certain level fitness eh? :)

No kiddin! I would need a training plan to get ready for your training plan.

Srsly, that looks like a lot of fun, though.

I found a video that someone made of the 2006 run while running it. It's about 7 minutes long, and covers snippets of the course.

LabRat 09-26-2008 12:13 PM

Rats.

Registration was supposed to open yesterday. I just went to register today and this message is on the homepage:

Entry form and online registration will be available as soon as all the details are in place. We are still getting things squared away. We will be allowing 7500 runners this year. No-one has been allowed to register yet.

Crud. This is the first year they have limited the number of entrants. On the one hand, it's awsome that that many people want to do this kind of crazy thing. On the other, I hope it doesn't continue to grow so much that they end up having to do a lottery or some such so that I might not get to do it.

Show 'em your assets, you'll be a shoo in. ;)

The taper and carb loading has begun :D.

They actually posted the route ahead of time this year, check it out! "severe cross country" baby! The first three miles are pretty easy, then you get to the fun stuff. If you click the elevation profile you get a hint of the terrain. The last hill between mile 6 and 7 is a bitch. So far, there is no rain in the forcast, which would make this really miserable.

My training went very well. I skipped getting a flu shot and amazingly, had no respiratory problems this time. I don't think this is a coincidnece.

Unfortuantely, all 3 people that said they were interested in doing this with me backed out. There are some Tri Club members doing it, but none I know well. So, I'll be doing this essentially solo.

I'm still totally pumped, and looking forward to getting to hang out and catch up with Stimpy the night before. Hopefully, the only extra hardware I come back with is the finishers medal :).

It looks like the hilly woods between mile 4 and 5 are a lot of fun.
