Cali-Mama Thats very interesting as my son and my parents especially my father have developed a great relationship over the last year or so since he can now visit them without retribution from his mom.

Ali - thanks - I think ;)

Oh, I almost forgot to ask - Should I go see this freakin movie or not?

My wife and I have the unique ability to talk to our son about actors and singers from the first-person perspective... that should help take a bit of the mystery out of the equation when the whole "role-model" problem begins to arise. But, he is a cool kid already, he wanted a "big boy kitchen" for Christmas and loves to cook with us... his interests are cool.

It could be argued that “Apocalypto” dehumanizes Native Americans, turning their ancestors into savage monsters, but I think it does the opposite. Oppressed hunter-gatherers in the movie are presented as people with the same, universal emotions all humans share. And urban Mayans are portrayed as politically and religiously savvy, having made of themselves a monumental, Neolithic empire, something more akin to ancient Egypt than the trouble-free agrarians who come to most people’s minds when they think of native America.

Is that guy from the NY Times out of touch or are the "most people" he refers to, that naive? :whofart:
