Its a pretty simple thing UT, there are two possibilities in a Football game in regards to the bet.
There are a lot of games starting with 85%-95% lopsided bets. When this is the case, they take the money, especially in the play-offs, and in Thursday or Sunday night games. You may continue to believe that the lop-sided bets are lost due coincidence or not, it makes no difference to me. If you followed the money as I do, you would find that it is too common that the 5%-15% wins to be a coincidence. The house wins, fix or no fix. What the media sells, never wins. The masses buy, the masses lose. Those are the facts. Your details are unnecessary. |
Post your playoff picks and let's see.
|
W.HI.P what "IF" the Packers actually do win the Super Bowl....what would be your explanation then?
|
he'll wait a year and then say he told us that all along.

I've already mentioned the teams i've bet on, and the teams I wish i had bet on. Gambling isn't about winning, its about making money.... there is a huge huge difference between the two. You see Winning 8 out of 10 single bets at odds of 1.24 will see you winning 8 times , but you will be in fact losing money. Now Winning 1 out of 10 single bets at odds of 10.01, will see you losing 9 times, but you will in fact, make a profit. So again, its not about winning, that is the most common mistake of a gambler.... it is however, about making money. Take a listen to Jay-Z for advice, and put your money on the long shots, and forget about winning and cheering, this about the money. |
I'm going to go through my long term bets still pending, to show you where my money is, and how i bet on long term bets in the NFL.
You don't really need to win any Superbowl to make some serious cash. If one of these teams lose in the AFC or NFC final, I'm gonna make some profit this season. Now if one of them make it to the Superbowl and lose, well, that's a whole different category of money...that's some serious shit. You don't need to win the Superbowl in this way of betting. If you're smart, and you bet the way that I do, placing the majority of money on the most likely thing, in these following bets, the majority of money is placed on making the AFC or NFC final game. A third of that is placed on Winning the AFC or NFC. And one sixth of that on the Superbowl. That's some serious cash down there! Weekly bets of a few grand are mickey mouse in comparison. AFC South Division winner : Houston Texans 3/1 NFC East Division Winner : Dallas Cowboys 4/1 AFC Finalist : Houston Texans 6.33/1 NFC Finalist : Atlanta Falcons 4/1 NFC Finalist : Dallas Cowboys 8/1 AFC Finalist : Oakland Raiders 23/1 AFC Winner : Houston Texans 17/1 NFC Winner : Atlanta Falcons 8/1 NFC Winner : Dallas Cowboys 16/1 AFC Winner : Oakland Raiders 46/1 Superbowl Winner : Houston Texans 29/1 Superbowl Winner : Atlanta Falcons 15/1 Superbowl Winner : Dallas Cowboys 26/1 Superbowl Winner : Oakland Raiders 92/1 |

Winning the Superbowl with one of my picks would be a dream world for me, but I don't really need that to happen the way that I bet. In fact, I would make more money, if two of my teams make it to the AFC or NFC Finals, then if 1 of my teams simply won the superbowl. Unless of course its the Houston Texans, where, as i said before, I made an error when wagering on them, and i bet too much. The guys that run the show, haven't really been generous. I highly doubt they plan on taking billions of dollars out of their own pockets and throwing it to the masses. I'll play your game though, Should the Packers make the Superbowl, They could make a lot of money off the game itself, simply by the Packers winning under the spread, however that would still consist of them dishing out some serious cash on the long term bets already placed on the Packers by the masses. So, yeah, it's highly unlikely that the Packers win the Superbowl, but if by some unexpected moment of generosity, they decide to pay up on the long term bets, well, they will certainly not be generous on the money wagered on them in the spread. So, If it comes to pass that the Packers win the Superbowl, it will be under the spread. So yeah, bet against the Packers. There is no scenario where one would bet on the Packers beating a spread in a Superbowl game |
Already hedging.
This, I guess, is my intolerably irritating. Noted that you omitted the amount you supposedly bet on those long term wagers, so it remains impossible for us to conclude whether you actually won money. I am frankly skeptical that you actually placed any real bets. |

All the prices are there, and all the equations are there. I wrote very specifically: the majority of money is placed on making the AFC or NFC final game. A third of that is placed on Winning the AFC or NFC. And one sixth of that on the Superbowl. Did you not make it through 4th grade? |
Its a simple math equation
Lets take the Texans, and the 4 scenario's where i would get paid. Houston Texans Win the Superbowl $1000 x 29 = $29.000 + $34.000 + $37.980 + $40.000 = $140.980 Houston Texans lose in Superbowl $2.000 x 17 = $34.000 + $37.980 + $40.000 = $111.980 Houston Texans lose in AFC Final $6.000 x 6.33 = $37.980 + 40.000 = $77.980 Houston Texans division win $10.000 x 4 = $40.000 |

Thanks for turning this thread into another of your chest thumping betting clinics, btw.
Dickhole |
I gotta agree with Jim on this one.
All this betting shit should be moved into Whip's thread made specifically for that. . . . . . . . . . ETA - I HATE THE COWBOYS! |
I really wish that the Eagles had lost and/or the Boys had won last week. It would have ended any remote hope of the Eagles going to the playoffs and put them on track for a much better draft pick.
The Cowboys would have virtually secured a playoff spot and extended their NFC East lead over the Giants. THAT is what should have happened. |
which is exactly why it didn't. and no, it's not because of money in any way. it was god.
|
Yeh well that football god/goddess is really pissin me off.
1) Andy will hang around another season ($10 million reasons for that) 2) We'll hear about how he traded down ANOTHER, now much lower, 1st round pick for whatever stupid reason he comes up with. not happy. |
I came into this thread to tell LJ that his team has a shot.
It's not me guiding this conversation down this path. You can't blame me for answering question. |
well, what CAN I blame you for? There must be something.
|
9/11.
|
seems a little thin.....
I'm going to settle for a general malaise and withering distaste in place of actual blame. It's something.... |

The Packers are 0-1 since i said that the unbeatable Packers would lose.
|
You didn't say they would lose. You said they would not win the Superbowl. Again, you would lose if you bet the Packers against the spread this year, as they have the third best record against the spread.

The Patriots, when they lost the superbowl against the giants, lost their final 9 games against the spread. My point remains that they are gonna make some serious cash off the perception people have on these Packers. Quote:

This is the Patriots re-lived. |
Its funny you bring up that season LJ, cause that was a very profitable season for me.
That's the year i called, and bet on the Tampa Bay Rays winning the American League East, after finishing last overall in the Major leagues at 67/1! Thanks for reminding me. |
cock.
|
aint he though?
god, Whip. you're fucking AWESOME! Can you mail me a lock of your hair for good luck? tell us about some more cool shit you said! I, for one, can't get enough! If you would print Tshirts that say W.HI.P in the back, I'd buy like ....11 of them! |
Why don't you just take the bet you offered me and then backed out of?

I didn't offer anything. I asked you to put your money where your mouth was.
You made a very confident proclamation that the Pack would NOT win the Super Bowl. I asked you to guarantee it. Big difference. Attachment 36081 |
You're just scared of changing your name to "Listen to W.HI.P" When the Packers don't win the Superbowl.
You've become aware that there might be a team as good as the Chiefs that can beat them. |
Yes, that's exactly right.
exactly |
Did any of Mr Whippy's enormous
(....and will I now get another PM about my mother? And btw if you did do that to her I'd get yourself tested.....) |
How in the fuck could they have picked the Patriots 2 years in a row as one of the favorites W.HI.P?
I was one that thought they were going to the Superbowl last year when you told me thier defense isn't strong enough, thier defense sucked balls last year and is even worse this year as they are dead last in defense so how could they pick them as one of the favorites? The have absolutely no chance in the playoffs this year,no chance at all,if they get home field throughout they will be killed in the divisional at New England because of the shit defense. |
GET THIS SHIT OUT OF THIS THREAD.

The Patriots have been their huge money maker over the past 5-6 years, but now, they've replaced the word Patriots with the word Packers, they've replaced New England with Green Bay, and last not but not least, they've replaced the name Tom Brady with Aaron Rodgers. |

I assumed jd was whip's sock puppet, actually....
|
I'm still up for that bet if you have any balls left LJ.
I've only got this account, you have at least 2, if not 3...so its not really gonna kill you. We can even bring the stakes down a little... like, we just have to change our name for a week, following the result. So what you say? ..got any balls? |
no... no balls.
I never said the packers WOULD win.. you said they WOULD NOT. do you understand the words coming out of my mouth? |
The Dallas Cowboys are 1-2 in the month of December but are still in position to win their division.
With a win in Week 16 and a loss by the New York Giants, the Cowboys would wrap up the NFC East. Unfortunately, the Cowboys will have a tough time pulling that off. Not only are they facing a streaking Philadelphia Eagles team. The Cowboys could also be without running back Felix Jones. With an already depleted running game, Dallas is looking one dimensional at the worst possible time. This can only mean a total destruction of the Eagles this week. When things look best, the Birds typically fold like a card house in a hurricane. |

And you failed to show up two weeks ago, when the boys ended their season in not second place but THIRD place in the division. got some nerve. |
Yes,you are right once again W.HI.P. lol. Now,since New England has no chance at all in beating the Ravens, the Ravens will shut down Tom Brady with ease and beat the Pats by 3 touchdowns easily.
So the Super Bowl will be Baltimore Vs. the Giants or 49ers,so I'm happy!! I like all 4 teams left so I don't care who wins now,Baltimore Vs. SanFran is a good Super Bowl,so is Baltimore Vs. New York(again) so thats the match up...cool. |

Good lord. |

I can't believe people fall for the heavy attacks of the Packers, Patriots, and Saints. A Ravens - 49ers match-up will be ideal. Top 2 defenses from each conference. My Houston bet almost paid me. I failed with my long term bets, but I'm 100% on the spread so far in the play-offs. 3 more games left for perfection! |

What, are you kidding? Anyhoo, to continue with it, its on the Ravens +8.5, and the niners -1.5 |

I hate you W.HI.P ! lol! The Patriots are my second favorite team and I put 25 bucks on the Ravens winning Sunday! Make no mistake about it,I'll gladly pay 25 bucks to see my Patriots go to the Super Bowl but if Baltimore wins I'll be 25 bucks ahead.... Please lie to me and tell me the Patriots have a chance Sunday lol |
