Cool. I love those leaf bowls.

Monster, are you on speed or something? You do so much.

skysidhe 12-03-2009 10:47 PM

Those bowls are very good. You're perfecting your craft. I am coveting the blue one with the leaf pattern.

So Zen, where is the new job. Aren't you still in the Land of the Rising Sun?

dar512 12-04-2009 01:06 PM

Walking from the train station to work this morning a young woman did a face plant into the sidewalk. I'm not sure how she tripped, because it happened behind me.

Here we are in downtown cynicism - the city of cold shoulders. But lots of people stopped to help her up, gather her things and get her back on her way.

It was a feel-good moment.

I've been in Adelaide, Australia, since February 2008. Sheesh, no wonder you guys can't find Osama.

The university is about 10 km from the city centre, on some hills at the edge of the plain.

TheMercenary 12-04-2009 10:08 PM

:D Osama who? Never heard of him.

ZenGum 12-04-2009 10:19 PM

Tall guy, big beard. Not Santa.

monster 12-04-2009 10:34 PM

richlevy?

ZenGum 12-04-2009 10:44 PM

For $50,000,000 reward, I'd say: yes.

limey 12-05-2009 06:38 AM

I've just repaired a very ordinary wooden box. I used pegs made of matchstick to fill the holes which had become too big for the screws holding the hinges and then reattached the hinge to the box with the original screws.
And then I found an eyelet screw so that I could attach a small chain to hold the lid upright when vertical, to prevent the lid-hinge-screw problem from happening again.
20 minutes. Smug.

The very definition of a helicopter... forward progress varies with the needs of the crew, but the rotors are always spinning, making missions possible by doing all the work.

Bought my nephew's birthday present yesterday.
I'd been fretting about low funds, and wanting to find something he really liked for under £10.

So I went in the gizmo shop, thinking I could pick up something cheap and if he didn't think much of it, I wouldn't be too hurt.

Then I saw this. £4.99. It is perfect for a (very young) 12 year old boy. Samuel still thinks farts are the funniest thing in the world. I must admit, Mum, Dad and I still find them pretty funny too. It has a motion detector and makes a farting noise when movement is detected. Very childish and very vulgar. Hurray.

Then I felt I should encourage his individualism more and also picked up a tube of comb-in-wash-out blue hair dye. For Christmas. He might end up giving it to his sister, because she supports Chelsea and can dye a strand blue on match days. But I figure it will appeal to him as well as giving my sister kittens.

Ha ha ha.
Sorry, I mean ho ho ho of course.

One of the nicest things about my BIL's visits to our house is the chuckles from Husband and BIL as they fart away contentedly ...

Pork and sauerkraut in my slow cooker. 'Tis the season...
Not happy I don't have a fresh rosemary tree this year though.

skysidhe 12-11-2009 11:44 AM

Do you keep yours inside the house? mine died or is suffering a horrible lingering death
I also have sage and it died in a pot outside too. My lavendar outside in the ground is happy though.

how do you fix it? I need a good recipe.

jinx 12-11-2009 12:31 PM

Uhh... recipe?
I put 6 thick boneless chops in the cooker with 2 bags of kraut and turned it on low.
If I had fresh rosemary and a tenderloin I might have tossed them both in a pan and browned/flavored it up a little before putting it in the cooker with kraut. Hard to screw this up really...

edit: I like to buy the xmas tree shaped topiary ones sky, but I can't keep them alive. I like to have one in the foyer and rub my hands on it whenever I go in/out. They just smell so good..... times a million when you have it cooking with pork....

Pie 12-11-2009 12:31 PM

Aaaah, back at work. I never realized how relaxing it is.

Madman 12-11-2009 01:51 PM

It's Friday!

I just love Friday's.

I'm having pizza and a movie tonight. That new Harry Potter flick came out Tuesday. The wife and I are going to watch it tonight. :)

skysidhe 12-12-2009 09:25 AM

When my mother broke her hip a year ago I bought her an African violet. They seem to be the standard isn't it when people are in the hospital? So it died this summer and she gave it back to me. I don't blame her. I cut all the leaves off and it has slowly been growing. Just now it has the most beautiful bloom ,a bud and dark even leaves. If it were light enough I would take a photo. It's sweet. I'm happy it lived and decided to reward me with blooms.

Thanks. I was wondering if they grew better inside the house. I love the smell of rosemary too. After using fresh herbs the dried ones just pale by comparison.

Lil' Griff lead her field hockey team to their first victory of the indoor season yesterday playing the role of field general as the coach was not there. One goal and three assists!

Lil' Pete and I went to the holiday foil tourney in Scranton yesterday. Out of 16 fencers we finished 1st and 2nd! Father/Daughter Victory! er daughter/father I should say... but foil is my #2 weapon so...

jinx 12-13-2009 11:35 AM

Woohoo! Congrats Griff family!

richlevy 12-13-2009 11:56 AM

Going to my mom and dad's for the 3rd night of Hanukkah. My sister's family will be there, except for the kids living out of town, and my son will be bringing his family.

With my grandson there, thats 11 people and 4 generations.

I'm bringing my camera.
