Democratic 2008 Presidential election Circus

The Democratic 2008 Presidential election Circus has begun. Today's performance in the Circus Tent features the Clinton Co-Presidential Candidates bashing Barack Obama's Muslim background.

"Are the American people ready for an elected president who was educated in a Madrassa as a young boy and has not been forthcoming about his Muslim heritage? Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton’s camp is asking about Sen. Barack Obama.
An investigation of Sen. Obama by political opponents within the Democratic Party has discovered that Mr. Obama was raised as a Muslim by his stepfather in Indonesia. Sources close to the background check, which has not yet been released, said Mr. Obama, 45, spent at least four years in a so-called Madrassa, or Muslim seminary, in Indonesia. "He was a Muslim, but he concealed it," the source said."

"Sources said the background check, conducted by researchers connected to Sen. Clinton, disclosed details of Mr. Obama's Muslim past. The sources said the Clinton camp concluded the Illinois Democrat concealed his prior Muslim faith and education. The background investigation will provide major ammunition to his opponents," the source said. "The idea is to show Obama as deceptive."

This "behind the scenes" investigation of Barack has apparently been going on for some time and was released the day after Mrs. Clinton declared their Co-Candidacy.

"A source close to the Clinton campaign told The Times, a day before the Insight article was published, that they do not wish to be seen as attacking(????) Mr Obama or digging for dirt, but that they would be happy for another Democrat contender to criticize him."

Obviously, the Clinton Co-Candidate Circus Jugglers felt time was "a wasting", and just couldn't wait for another democrat to dive on Barack, so the Clintons attacked Obama anyway!! More Clinton Machine Circus Acts coming up soon....

If Obama wants to hit back at the Clinton Machine, he certainly has plenty of cannon fodder at his disposal.

I know it's probably me, but isn't this a little bit ridiculous?

Sorry, Try it now - I just happened upon this site last night and put in the link to the mainpage. Its correct now - I hope.

I am assuming that is a non-bias article.

What article is non-bias? That article is as biased as any other quoted, just to another side.

Urbane Guerrilla 01-23-2007 07:07 AM

I figure the way to come to a non-biased view is to take two sources of opposite biases, lean them up together, and drop a plumb line to see where the middle point is.

Griff 01-24-2007 05:55 AM

That works if they're both reporting the facts that support their side. This, however, appears to be a complete invention.

yesman065 01-24-2007 08:27 AM

Perhaps we'll never know, but it also could be that the old addage "Where theres smoke there's fire" could prove to be true also. If it looks like the clinton campaign did it, they very well may have. No absolutes here for sure. Guess we'll see how it plays out over time.

Happy Monkey 01-24-2007 10:29 AM

There's no smoke or fire. The Moonies just figured out a way to make unsubstantiated claims against two Democratic presidential hopefuls at once.

piercehawkeye45 01-24-2007 02:08 PM

This is all bullshit.

Barack didn't go to an extremist school. The school was a Muslim school but it was tolerent. Clinton didn't do any digging either.

This is all bullshit from the Fox Nothing Channel

yesman065 01-24-2007 03:09 PM

Actually the Clinton camp when pressed on it, did NOT DENY leaking the info to the press. This was reported on all the networks, Not just the "Right" ones.

Happy Monkey 01-24-2007 03:19 PM

Yes they did.

Yes they did what?

"Insight attributed the information in its article to an unnamed source, who said it was discovered by "researchers connected to Senator Clinton." A spokesman for Clinton, who is also weighing a White House bid, denied that the campaign was the source of the Obama claim."

So ones says it was and another says it wasn't - how unusual. Don't forget this is an extremely important time for Pres. Candidates to get the $$$ they need to run and potentially win an election. Who do you think would benefit the most from this "leak."

As opposed to your previous assertion that the Clinton camp didn't deny it.

Republicans. As I said, it's a smear on the two Democratic front runners.

yesman065 01-24-2007 04:32 PM

So ones source (nothing to gain) says it was and another (lots $$$ to gain) says it wasn't. Typical.

Happy Monkey 01-24-2007 05:09 PM

Like I said, it's the Republicans who have the most to gain. And no source.

This isn't a he-said/she-said. It's an I-heard-someone-say-he-heard-someone-close-to-her-said/she-said.

piercehawkeye45 01-24-2007 06:05 PM

The right wing. Two birds with one stone.

yesman065 01-24-2007 06:08 PM

Not disputing that as an option, but I'm not gonna ignore Billary as a possibility either.

You're full of clever little catch-phrases, aren't you?

The Insight article was cited several times Friday on Fox News and was also referenced by the New York Post, The Glenn Beck program on CNN Headline News and a number of political blogs.
~snip~
Fox News executive Bill Shine told CNN "Reliable Sources" anchor Howard Kurtz that some of the network's hosts were simply expressing their opinions and repeatedly cited Insight as the source of the allegations.
Which piercehawkeye45 summed up accurately.
