Hey CASE!!

:D
|
it looks like something is colorfully steaming up out of those little pots.
|
Ducks! How awesome! It is so good to see that it made it in one piece, too. I hope you are enjoying it!
Oh yeah, did I send it with a frame? Or did I forget? I can't believe I missed this thread yesterday. Especially since it said my name in all caps. :D |
I am so jealous. I loved that painting. Congrats on the purchase to DN, and sale to Case!
|
Thanks, LR! It's really neat that I get to see how it is displayed, too! What a treat!
|
I'm jealous too but very happy to both Ducky for the lucky pic and case. Congrats. It's beautiful!
|
very nice case! The colors are fabulous. Can you show us more of your work under creative expression? ( that category is getting empty of submissions ) I would love to see it as would others I am sure.
|
Thanks for your encouragement, Brianna and Sky.
Actually, Sky, I had posted some of my art in this thread. I do have some new stuff happening right now. And my old work is all out on my website and work in progress is posted on blog (although, it has been a little while since I updated.) Incidentally, I am working on the leggy jellyfish right now so I can get her in a show next week, so I better get back to it. :) |
Case,
Have you ever done an entire wall mural? To build a movie room I added a wall with a 15- or 20-foot long uninterrupted space. Doesn't that give you ideas? Right now I have it painted bright yellow and orange on one side and dark gray/green on the other. |
Hmm...actually, that does give me some ideas. I am thinking of either some kind of crazy alien world like imagining creatures from another planet. Either that or underwater. Or perhaps it could be covered in images from classic movies...old Hollywood style or something. (Do I have ideas? Haha.) No, I have never done a wall mural. But it is something I have thought about doing. We have textured walls, so I haven't tried my own, either.
Yellow, orange and gray/green works, too. ;) |

If you like vaganza, that is. |
Sounds good...I am a big fan of vaganzas...especially the extra ones. We will need to get some kind of paint that works for painting on walls. Razz, do you have any suggestions? You have done murals before, right?
HLJ, if you or anyone else in the Denver area are interested, come to the Oriental Theater on April 12th. This is an event that I am helping to plan from a visual art standpoint. There will be aerial performances, burlesque, a fashion show and more than a couple of bands. My husband is going to stage manage. Also, I will have at least 1 or 2 pieces in this show: http://caseoriginalart.com/cellar/absolute.jpg |
I LOVE the jellyfish, case.
I am enjoying Unexpected Discovery. You did send it framed, but I decided I liked it unframed. |
case, you are so talented. :notworthy:
:) |
Shawnee, you are sweet. :)
Ducks, I am glad you like it. I finally finished it yesterday! I will get a picture out as soon as I get one. |
I'm just trying to get "on report."
Seriously, I just calls 'em as I sees 'em. I was even taken with the painting on wood that you were just starting on. If you did nothing else to it, it's really cool! |
Thanks, Shawnee. I actually am almost finished with the painting I was doing on wood. That reminds me that I have some other stuff to post on the blog. I will have to get those up there soon.
I did get a picture of Jelly, this morning: http://caseoriginalart.com/cellar/jellyandherwishsm.jpg "Jelly and her Wish" Oil on Canvas 24" X 36" |
Wow! Case that's AWESOME! I'm so going to have to come and live with you so I can follow you around all day and applaud for every little thing you doodle on, and give standing ovations for paintings like this...so how bout it? I'm quiet and I don't take up much room :D
|
Sure, come on out...although it might get a bit crowded. At least you could take me for a ride in your new car!
|
I love that Case!!!
|
I like the eyes in most of the other paintings, but in this one, it kind of freaks me out. I love the bottom 3/4ths of it though  I also really like the colors on the Jelly's head, they look watercolorish. The ragged orange border at the top is a nice contrast to the smoothness of the cap too. The solid black lines behind the jelly's legs and human legs give this one a very pleasing depth.
The tentacles around the legs remind me of dreams that I have where I want to run away from something, or I am being chased, but my legs just. won't. move. Whatever direction you are in right now, it's a great one!! Thanks for sharing with us. |
You know, jellyfish are taking over the oceans. They're filling all the niches left by the fish we're hunting to extinction.
|
Nuttin' worse than a fish niche. With ketchup.
|
|
Actually, my decision to paint a jellyfish was inspired by my 6 year old son, who loves Spongebob.
Thanks, you guys, for your kind comments and feedback on my painting. Labrat, I do understand the creepiness. But I just can't help it. I am obsessed with eyeballs. |
She is - she has a big jar full of them on her kitchen table.
|
Yummy! That's a fabulous idea, HLJ.
|
case - when do you want to finish your W.I.P. on my computer?
|
I came to this thread late - Ducks you witch.
Good job I'm not a Christian, because I covet that painting so badly I'd have to go to confession every day. I even considered buying it at $10 a week (if Case had agreed of course). This sounds rude: Quote:
I also love the jellyfish painting. Yes, I have a little creepy sensation, but less than I do with Dali - which this painting has a flavour of. Although of course he was a draughtsman in effect - such detail. I am more attracted to the flow of this. |
Case, are you going to sell that picture?
|
HLJ, anytime is cool. I am around during the day and evenings can be busy for us. Although, next week is craziness with the show coming up. But after that, I am fairly free.
Quote:
Also, did I say something rude? I was joking around with HLJ and his comment, but I didn't mean to be...I apologize if I offended anyone. Merc, yes, I am going to sell Ms. Jellyfish. ;) |
Quote:
I was the one being rude :) I like the idea of art prints of course, but if I buy from you I will buy I want real, painted by hand, case original art. I'll be keeping an eye on what you're doing young lady. BTW - Ducks must have paid an arm & a leg to get that shipped to Aus. That's art appreciation for you. |
Quote:
[edit] perhaps because it's surreal. sorry my ignorance is showing  |
How much? Maybe you should auction it.
|

I had never heard of the band. No worries! Ducks is great. I am so grateful for her appreciation. Thanks, Duckie girl! |

Jeff Soto Lisa Falzon Ray Caesar Brian C Mars-1 I consider it a compliment that there is no solid category for it. ;) |

An auction is a very interesting idea. I have gone the Ebay route, in the past, however, Ebay has changed many things that make it difficult for self representing artists to profit much at all. I have considered using Etsy, at the suggestion of several artists and friends. I have hesitated, though. Perhaps when I begin to focus more on creating prints I will try Etsy for that. |
Quote:
Do consider it a compliment because it is! Your work is beautiful. It captivates the eye. I think all people to have a creative outlet are lucky. I didn't get those artistic genes so the only way I am creative is by getting my fingernails dirty planting flowers on my patio. :D |
Case, that picture blew me away, it's beautiful and disturbing.
|
I think Jelly would make a cool IotD -will you post it or may we?
|
Thanks, monster. You guys are welcome to post, if you see fit.
|
now would be the time to mention if you hate my write up or I spelled your name wrong....
(I'm no expert and no painting fan (old new real anything), but I liked this...) |
V's post reminded me of your work
Partly because (as he says) the bubbles look like pupils |
Haha! Maybe I should paint a series of underwater surreal cellarites? I could just use the RFN pics and turn you all into creatures reminiscent of HP Lovecraft novels. Anyone up for that idea?
|
Like white on rice!
I'll buy. Mine, I mean... |
Then you could sell them and put a percentage of the profit in the tip mug.
|
swell idea, HLJ. ;) Tony, what think you? Would you be up for a fundraiser like this?
|
But of course!!!!!!!!!!!!
|
Okay, then...here's how we can do it. I will offer to do a portrait or "surrealized" portrait for any cellar member with 50% of the proceeds going to the tip jar. Buyer will be responsible for shipping costs, but for small paintings that usually isn't too bad. PM me if you are interested and we can work out the details as far as size/price/ideas. If I get enough interest...even just one person (Sundae Girl, yes?) who wants to do it, I will start a thread about it in meta forum and detail my progress if you like. This sounds like a fun project!
Any other ideas? |
Case, I'd be interested in buying a painting from you, but perhaps not a portrait. Let me cogitate upon that.
|
Awesome! PM me when you have an idea of what you would like to do. I won't be able to donate 50% on a lot of the existing paintings, because they are in exhibits right now, and will already have about the same amount subtracted if they sell (whether from the place they hang or from another place, like online.) But I could make a 50% donation on any new piece, really.
|
I'm serious and would love to buy an original piece of your work - especially if I was somehow incorporated! Or my boys of course, being more photogenic and having the all important big eyes.
All I will say is, don't take the bread from your own mouth. I wholeheartedly support any Cellar fundraising as UT provides hours of pleasure for many people, but make sure the price reflects the fact that this is your livelihood. Damn, did I just ask to pay more? Fingers crossed other Dwellars are as vain as me. |
Im up.
