you tube clips starring cellar dwellar voices

danaC as the narrator in 'Stranger than Fiction'

Sundae 02-23-2009 10:26 AM

I adore Dani's accent. But this is not it ;)

footfootfoot 02-23-2009 11:59 AM

Yeah, where is that video of you and Dana on that ferris wheel or whatever it was? We can hear her voice then, right?
Also how is her accent different from yours? I know how a brooklyn accent and a bronx accent are different, but what about yours?

Sundae 02-23-2009 12:38 PM

Here 'tis.

Can you really not tell the difference between us?
It's really obvious to an English person - vowels are pronounced differently.

lumberjim 02-23-2009 01:22 PM

i don't know.......still sounds like her to me....a bit....
anyway,....the point was...that's the voice i hear in MY head....when i read her posts....not all the time like that guy.

Sundae 02-23-2009 01:41 PM

I didn't mean to sound snotty - I know exactly what you mean re hearing Dwellars' voices.

I'm just intrigued that the difference isn't apparent.
It might be that I've heard Dana's voice for longer periods than you, or simply the difference in accents. I'm not sure I could fathom approx 250 mile changes in American accents after all.

Undertoad 02-23-2009 02:03 PM

I can tell South, Cockney, Yorkshire, Scots. I can still speak Yorkshire if I really concentrate.

I can't tell Welsh but I heard some Welshmen the other day and it sounded distinct.

In the Americas I can distinguish Bostonian, New Englander, New York, Fluffia, "Appalachia", general Southern, Texan, Midwestern, Minneapolan, Canadian, that's all I can think of right now.

Lesser, uh, worldly educated Americans can't tell the difference between Aussie and Brit.

Sundae 02-23-2009 02:56 PM

He's speaking English I promise.

I adore a Welsh accent.
One of the reasons I adore Torchwood - Russell T Davies is a genuis for setting it i Cardiff.

I also love the Welsh language - in case you don't know there is a separate language. Completely unguessable to the non-Welsh in terms of words and pronunciation.

PS - NOT British teeth!
I know no-one with missing teeth. False teeth, yes. Missing, no.

DanaC 02-23-2009 05:19 PM

I totally love that you hear Emma Thompson's voice when you read my posts lol.

Actually, I think her voice is a little like mine, but with a different accent. Similar tone and pitch (except when I am hyped on lager and excitement ala the Greenwich vid, at which point my voice is a little higher in pitch :P)

One reason a non-Brit might not spot the difference between SG and me accentwise, is because I don't have a particularly strong accent. SG's accent is close to received pronunciation, because that part of the country is where that tone was set. The accent for my part of the world is quite different to RP, but my accent veers closer towards it, because my regional accent is not strong. Or rather, not strong most of the time. I drift in and out depending on my mood and the company I keep.

If you compared a broader northern accent (i.e pretty much any of my old Bolton friends) with SG's the difference would be much more obvious.

Speaking Welsh
Not so much a language more of a speech impediment

:lol2:

I used to hate it when I worked in bars when they decended on Edinburgh during the rugby 6 nations a whole week of dealing with drunk Welshmen, would make you weep

lumberjim 02-26-2009 10:44 PM

brianna as Lilly Von Schtupp (Madellin Kahn)

and who can forget 'selecting escorts'

Beestie 02-27-2009 02:16 AM

I can tell the difference between a New Zealand accent and an Australian accent.

Trilby 02-27-2009 08:00 AM

I'm honored! Madelline Kahn is incomparable!

monster 02-27-2009 09:37 AM

 as another Northerner with not a really northern accent, I find it funny that you would imagine DanaC to speak that way. I hear more of a Corrie accent. I tried to find a youtube to post, but then thought better of it as all the chick are slappers in the clips you can find online

Undertoad 02-27-2009 10:32 AM

If you can understand this awesome little girl you are from Yorkshire.

lumberjim 02-27-2009 10:50 AM

Undertoad as Seth Rogan

DanaC 02-27-2009 12:38 PM

Awww, that little girl is adorable:)

Trilby 02-27-2009 12:54 PM

If I got it right her daddy likes onions on his hot dog for tea - ?

OH! How far tea has fallen when onion-y tube steak is the preferred food! In my day...blah blah blah..

:D

Clodfobble 02-27-2009 07:27 PM

It's not Youtube, but this site has a voice that sounds exactly like one of our Dwellars (click on the interactive demo link on the left...)

monster 02-27-2009 07:34 PM

Well it doesn't sound like anyone I've ever met.... but then neither do I when I hear myself on an answerphone, so maybe my ears are funny.

lumberjim 02-27-2009 07:35 PM

is that one of your walk in closet recordings clobble?

jinx 02-27-2009 07:36 PM

It's you!??

Clodfobble 02-27-2009 07:43 PM

Yeah, that's a recent one, so it was done in my closet instead of the fancy isolation booth I used to have access to... :) To be fair, I've added soundproofing, it's not like it's really just a closet.

Shawnee123 02-27-2009 07:44 PM

I'm amazed. Bravo!

DanaC 02-27-2009 07:47 PM

Actually, if you want a Youtube clip starring my voice check this out:

This was a feasibility test that J did to check out the Crysis engine. I play 'Bob'

lumberjim 02-27-2009 07:49 PM

the giant fookin chicken?

lowl

jinx 02-27-2009 07:49 PM

I lol'd

Shawnee123 02-27-2009 07:50 PM

What do you mean? lmao!

DanaC 02-27-2009 07:52 PM

*grins*

One of these days I must get Judah to put the Anarchy machinima we did onto Youtube. I played a news reader/ sports commentator called Daisy Diamond.

zippyt 02-27-2009 09:54 PM

Me

footfootfoot 02-27-2009 10:08 PM

Picturing clodfobble as a mom, I somehow can't imagine hearing her telling me to eat my vegetables and then being able to defy her. She sounds so authoritative and matter of fact.

"OK, I guess you are right, brussels sprouts must be good for me."

lumberjim 02-10-2015 05:50 PM

as UTE has aged, he has morphed from Seth Rogan into Jeff Bridges.... or viceversa

footfootfoot 02-11-2015 05:24 PM

Reviewing this thread I'd somehow forgotten how hot and adorable Dana is.

Sundae 02-20-2015 01:11 PM

And I forgot how fat I was
