What bits are you missing?

Choco's idea following Cloud's bad news about needing surgery.... What internal organs and other body parts are you missing? (that you used to have). Is there an interesting story about it?

Plus, we'll take sanity as a given, and hair on the men over 30 (:p) .... and also that I'm insensitive because you lost whatever it was on 9/11.... [/killjoy]

I am missing my tonsils (removed as a child) and 4 molars removed for the purposes od reducing overcrowding. That's about it. Oh and a suspect mole I had on my shoulder. I'm more complete than I feel!

Beest is missing half his thyroid and two wisdom teeth, all removed since we came to the USA -what is it with you people? :p

Shawnee123 03-07-2009 04:43 PM

I still have my damn tonsils.

I'm missing the meniscus cartilage in my left knee, basketball injury. All my wisdom teeth, gone.

And a thumbnail. I'm missing that. Where can I get a replacement thumbnail?

:p

monster 03-07-2009 04:56 PM

I wonder hoe close to a complete missing body we can get? Has anyone had a heart transplant?

Undertoad 03-07-2009 04:59 PM

tonsils, wisdom teeth, one molar, attention span, confidence, looks.

that, young man, will get you on report.

why do you feel you've lost your looks? I think you look fine right now -what the hell did you used to look like?

Shawnee123 03-07-2009 05:09 PM

Seriously. You're cute as hell. :)

Chocolatl 03-07-2009 05:11 PM

So far, I am only missing my gallbladder. I can't help but imagine a little empty space where it used to be, and I always imagine that that area of my abdomen is concave, now.

I spent a long time insisting I needed to have my wisdom teeth removed, only to find out recently that I don't have any in the first place.

I guess if anyone has had Lasik, we might have a few pieces of eyeball missing?

monster 03-07-2009 05:16 PM

So

tonsils
wisdom teeth
gall bladder
thumbnail
half a thyroid
knee cartilage

Monster's Frankenstein is still somewhat incomplete..... we need more body parts!

Oh yeah, I'm missing my front tooth. Bridged now, but it happened in 2nd grade after I was chasing Steve on the playground. I fell and my tooth went up into my head...surgeries later they bridged it but not until I turned 18 and my head stopped growing. It's like caps only the left front one isn't hooked to anything.

Poor Sister Norbertine called my mom and was crying because she thought if she found my tooth they could replant it. Turned out it was behind my nose. LOL.

Choco...how can you not know you didn't have wisdom teeth? They're very crowding. :)

Undertoad 03-07-2009 05:21 PM

thanks you gals

That's why I thought I had them! My mouth has always felt very crowded and I was convinced I had a few wisdom teeth to remove. I finally asked the last time I was at the dentist and he was baffled -- no wisdom teeth on the x-ray. Apparently this is what people's mouths feel like all the time?

Shawnee123 03-07-2009 05:31 PM

I've heard that sometimes people don't have wisdom teeth. In my case they never surfaced but were threatening my other teeth. I went completely under for removal, having been given a choice. I did not need to go though what I went through with my teeth as a kid and young adult. It was constant, it seemed. Orthodotic appts were just another thing to do during the week, as they tried to fix me.

it's pretty common to be missing teeth -not just wisdom teeth.

i want more body parts....

...oh and toad, i prefer the updated version :D

jinx 03-07-2009 05:45 PM

Just a mole and a molar, no organs or anything really cool, sorry...

Beestie 03-07-2009 06:00 PM

All original equipment still intact. Some of it fused together but intact nonetheless.

Depends on your genetic background.

Quote:

Different human populations differ greatly in the percentage of the population which form wisdom teeth, ranging from 0.2% in Bantu speakers to nearly 100% in Mexican Indians.
Sadly, I had all four of the damn things and they all had to come out. I wasn't put fully under for the procedure -- doc said I was awake and aware the entire time. Along with the nitrous, they administered a drug that blurred my mind enough that none of the memories of the incident remained. ...which is a very good thing, being that the procedure involved a hammer and chisel.

Conversations about dental surgery require this video be included by law:

Jaydaan 03-07-2009 07:45 PM

4 teeth when I was a teen, for over crowding as well. Then my 4 wisdom teeth later on..... no other bits on me. However I have 2 friends that have BOTH had heart transplants. One, as a child, then AGAIN in his 20's. The other in his 30's. Cool people, cool stories. The one that had his transplant woke up after the drug induced coma on 9/11!!! he thought to himself..." great I finally get a chance on life, and world is blowing up!" He also says he now likes things he didn't before, such as mushrooms.... hated them before, no loves them.

footfootfoot 03-07-2009 08:10 PM

Tonsils/adenoids (what a fucking ripoff! they told me tales of limitless ice cream I got nada. that's where the trust went south)
Lower wisdom teeth
Two lower incisors maybe some upper incisors, I was pretty out of it...

and that's it, as far as I know. Wait, what the?

HOLY SHIT my fucking foreskin is gone! Those bastards!

I got yer missing cornea, right here. About 700 nanometers of it (times two,) which is a lot when you're talking about removing cornea. In fact, I must not have any more removed with future surgeries, lest my eyeball get too thin.

classicman 03-07-2009 09:49 PM

I'll toss in an appendix for the cause - lost it about .... wow 10 years ago.

monster 03-07-2009 09:59 PM

What a fuckin' failure so far. from head to toe we have

Hair
A few slivers of cornea
Enough teeth to retooth the NHL and Kentucky
tonsils
adenoids
half a thyroid
a few moles
thumbnail
appendix
gall bladder
foreskin
knee cartllage

it's not enough, people!

classicman 03-07-2009 10:10 PM

Just you wait til buster posts again - I bet he's got something for ya.

Pico and ME 03-07-2009 10:13 PM

A couple of discs between the vertebre in my neck are gone, along with the obligatory tonsils and wisdom teeth.

monster 03-07-2009 10:14 PM

excellent... we have the makings of a spine....

Razzmatazz13 03-07-2009 10:17 PM

I lost a bit of my skull during a surgery to lasso a tooth into place. It's not much, but I'll add it to the cause.

monster 03-07-2009 10:24 PM

thanks muchly ...any more?

Razzmatazz13 03-07-2009 10:28 PM

my boyfriend's cousin lost a thumb yesterday...but he's not a dwellar

Beest 03-07-2009 11:18 PM

Right lobe of my thyroid, It was the size of an egg

Sundae 03-08-2009 05:54 AM

I'm no use to you at all I'm afraid. I have added items... but nothing removed whatsoever.

Has anyone else seen The Blood on Satan's Claw?
In it, the devil grows patches of skin on the local village children.
Very bizarre. Reminds me of this thread is all :)

Choco is just more evolved than the rest of us! ;)

Gallbladder, 4 wisdom teeth -- husband had out appendix, tonsils, wisdom teeth.

I'm sure one or more of our male members (heh) is missing his foreskin. Just a guess.

SteveDallas 03-08-2009 12:49 PM

Spine. I'm missing my spine.

Also my balls.

DanaC 03-08-2009 12:50 PM

I think Bri has your balls steve.

Nirvana 03-08-2009 01:00 PM

I am missing my tonsils and my youth >sigh<

Elspode 03-08-2009 02:01 PM

Missing tonsils, two molars and my entire colon.

I had some veins moved from my leg to the vicinity of my heart as well.

A good, yes an entire colon, that's more like it.....

xoxoxoBruce 03-08-2009 03:53 PM

Foreskin.

Pico and ME 03-08-2009 04:20 PM

Pie 03-08-2009 04:59 PM

I'm missing my periods -- side effect of having an IUD.
A'course, Ali is also missing hers, but for a different reason. :)

Im missing mine too...side effect of getting older.

Clodfobble 03-08-2009 10:45 PM

Me too... side effect of breastfeeding. If you don't count post-delivery bleeding, I have had one period in the last 3.5 years.

jinx 03-08-2009 10:48 PM

Mine too, I skip the pink pills.

I can supply the lens to fit behind that (damaged in an accident and replaced with a plastic lens).
Adds four wisdom teeth, four moles, and one foreskin to the pile.

You know, Monster, when this list is done you could photoshop our Frankenstein-Monster. How appropriate.

You should have called him more often.

Aliantha 03-09-2009 01:38 AM

I don't miss my period at all. Nope, not even one little bit. :)

All that's about to change though I guess. Back to the grindstone so to speak.

Sundae 03-09-2009 06:21 AM

Oh, oh! I miss my period too!
Although as Ali says - I don't actually miss it.
Haven't had one in 5 years thanks to my implant.

Trilby 03-09-2009 07:44 AM

I can give ya a chunk of a left breast. :D

Oh, and I do indeed have SD's balls. They're in my mouth...

LabRat 03-09-2009 08:40 AM

4 wisdom teeth and a few moles. I have a boring health history. I'd like to keep it that way too please :)

glatt 03-09-2009 08:53 AM

One molar, two moles, one foreskin, and one short segment out of each vas deferens. Oh, and like a gallon or two of blood - I lose track.

kerosene 03-09-2009 09:00 AM

I have lost my wisdom teeth, some moles, several pounds of fat (and possibly some muscle), quite a bit of hair, from haircuts and shaving, fingernails, lots of skin over the years.

SeaSickSiren 03-09-2009 10:33 AM

I have only had my wisdom teeth removed. Everything else is intact and still attached or in my body. ;)

Sundae 03-09-2009 11:26 AM

Welcome, Siren.
Sadly, we already have wisdom teeth.
Still, they might be worth something on the ivory market ;)

Unless we are going to make a ship out of them...
Quote:

Then the ship Naglfar (‘Nail farer’), will break loose: this is made from the nails of dead men. Hrymr (‘Noisy’) is the name of the giant who will be its captain. The wolf Fenrir will step forward with gaping mouth, his lower jaw against the earth, and his upper against the sky – he would gape even more, if there were room; fires blaze from his eyes and nostrils. Then the world serpent will blow venom, sprinkling all the air and water. The sky will be split in all this din, and the sons of Múspell will ride out. Surtr will ride first, with fire all around him, carrying a mighty sword brighter than the sun. They will ride into the world of the gods over the bridge Bifröst (‘Shimmering way’), and the bridge will break. All the forces will gather on the field of Vígríðr, and the last mighty battle will take place there.
Oh, sorry that was nails (and a theory now disproved) (Link to Snopes).

SteveDallas 03-09-2009 11:35 AM

Wait, what's going on here?? Monster, are you trying to collect enough parts to make a spare human being??
