Secret Santa 2009!

Gift received, and opened.

I couldn't wait.

I'm that way.

It's December, already!

http://blackstormhawk.com/cellar/san...%20AM_0075.jpg
Not a lot of clues from the box itself ... an address in a town I know quite well, but I don't know any Dwellars FROM there, even though I find reason to hang out near that particular post office fairly often. Yes, I tried to peel off that address label, but the one underneath is also addressed to me. Drat.

http://blackstormhawk.com/cellar/san...%20AM_0076.jpg
No clues from the envelope ... but what about the card?

http://blackstormhawk.com/cellar/san...%20AM_0078.jpg
Pretty butterflies!!

http://blackstormhawk.com/cellar/san...%20AM_0079.jpg
Could there be a clue in this? What Dwellar wouldn't be as fluid writing an offering of Christmas greetings ...

http://blackstormhawk.com/cellar/san...%20AM_0080.jpg
Very pretty flowers, but, frankly, not Christmas-y, per se. I have a suspicion ...

http://blackstormhawk.com/cellar/san...%20AM_0081.jpg
Awesome cool! A roll of Cowgirl tape! I can put this to good use. Much more fashionable than plain old duct tape for trussing up people who annoy me. It's a pretty large roll too. You know my needs, Cellar Santa!

http://blackstormhawk.com/cellar/san...%20AM_0082.jpg
Now what might this be? A tiny little crate to hide tiny little bodies in? Just what I needed!!

http://blackstormhawk.com/cellar/san...%20AM_0083.jpg
No, that's not it. But ... hey, I know that logo! Most of the stuff these guys make you can't ship through the mail, thanks to a certain Mr. Oswald ...

http://blackstormhawk.com/cellar/san...%20AM_0084.jpg
Wow, Cellar Santa, you did great! That's a sweet find! :D Watch, Compass, and an LED flashlight! Super cool. I love clip watches!

J'Accuse ... richlevy, because of the non-denominational wrapping paper and card, the excellent sense of style, and the whimsy represented by the tape. And I think he gets near that post office from time to time ...

Trilby 12-03-2009 01:44 AM

very cool! LOVE the cowgirl tape!!!

Otherwise known as schmaltz. If you could get a Rabbi to certify it as kosher, it would make a great Hanukkah gift.;)

monster 12-03-2009 09:14 PM

Hanukkah start next week, right?

The first night of Hanukkah is Friday Dec 11th.

monster 12-03-2009 10:03 PM

thnaks, that's what I had remembered, but it's not in my calendar.

Undertoad 12-03-2009 10:11 PM

Is it rude for a gentile to wish you a Happy Hanukkah, even though s/he doesn't share your beliefs and probably even has no idea what they are?

Not that I've ever heard of or believed. I wish my gentile friends Merry Christmas, even though I'm not a Christian.

In my opinion, you are wishing someone happiness in the celebration of their holiday. If I knew someone who enjoyed swimming in lime jello every August 4th, and I ran into them on August 3rd, I'd wish them a Happy Lime Jello Swimming Day because that's what makes them happy.

If someone wishes me a Merry Christmas, I prefer to focus on the fact that they are wishing me happiness rather than the fact that they assumed I was a Christian. They would, after all, have a %76 chance of being correct.

skysidhe 12-03-2009 10:45 PM

yay It's so fun to watch you open your gifts! Thanks for sharing.
lol
literally

Undertoad 12-03-2009 10:48 PM

Well then, Happy Hanukkah!

Tulip 12-03-2009 11:58 PM

My favorite opinion on the subject.

As far as I can tell, schmaltz is more like dripping (which was indeed eaten on toast back when my parents were growing up).

Think of paste more like peanut butter in terms of application.
Perhaps described as a cheap & cheerful form of pate.

Hope you enjoy the haul Zips.
This is by no means the best the UK has to offer, but I tried to include things that have been discussed in the Cellar, that you probably haven't had before and that fit the budget. Phew!
Paste
Selection pack
Christmas Pudding
Mince pies (except they are no longer made with meat here, as discussed elsewhere
Spotted Dick - loads of posts, really!
Tea

Merry Christmas!

skysidhe 12-04-2009 08:16 AM

I liked that article SteveDallas.

The subject of Saying Merry Christmas in the times of political correctness would make a great thread for debate.

classicman 12-04-2009 08:52 AM

Merry Christmas SteveDallas

I debated for quite awhile over whether the "cereal" killing was an intentional pun on the death of gluten in my house, or just a classic Zippy spelling. Still not sure. But nonetheless, I examined the first piece of evidence in this unsolved murder...

Multiple edged weapons indeed! A set of Paula Deen kitchen knives with lovely wooden handles. Thank you very much, zippy!! But wait, there's more evidence in my custody...

richlevy 12-12-2009 11:31 PM

With some prompting from the Secret Santa Administrator I HAD to go to the mailbox. It was packed with bills, junk mail and one lovely box of goodies....

A beautiful card, some fun bracelets and erasers, an eagles helmet, a gorilla ornament and three, yes three pounds of HASH! Woo Hoo!

Ok it was better than hash - its homemade fudge! Mmm nom nom nom - no I'm not sharing any of it - Its mine all mine! Thank you so much Secret Santa!

classicman 12-14-2009 05:15 PM

Sorry about the pic quality - best I could do was my cell phone.

busterb 12-14-2009 06:25 PM

J&J. Glad you kinda liked it.
@ Jim. Was looking around for the Gold Coin rubber that every teen my age carried around till worn out. Guess that is a thing of past?

(I guess you provide the hash for the consumption of fudge thereafter?)

'Vana!
I think you should have warned us that you are A Person With Self Control! I have opened everything I've received through the post as yet - I have been very lucky this year. And no doubt I'll do the same when my Secret Santa gift arrives too. It's just such a delicious experience.

What a perfect assortment of gifts from my wonderful Secret Santa. I can bathe, lotion up and get ready for the sausage [to eat, dirty minds :eyebrow:] and then have a little candy dessert! Thank you so much Secret Santa! Happy Holidays!

And today it was my turn for a SECRET SANTA parcel ...

I'm afraid I read the box, carefully, so I know it came from the LJ/Jinx household. Goodness knows what the postage cost was!
I couldn't resist opening it ... and rifling the contents ... alien food! Strange things to try!!
Two types of pancake mix, maple syrup (yum!), harvest soup mix, a bag of nonpareils, the "cracker" contained some BACON salad dressing (), a T shirt ... I tried to resist the little festive packages but couldn't! They contained personalised thingies, a notepad, a Pennsylvania numberplate and a little flashing tag (solar powered!) ... all with my name on.
A truly marvellous haul - thanks a lot, guys!!! I'm looking forward to trying it all!

jinx 12-17-2009 09:45 AM

No, wait, we really were your secret santa! Merry Xmas limey!

limey 12-17-2009 10:12 AM
