Check Out the "Paintrifuge"
This is an invention by a friend of ours. Another good friend of ours, "Stevie Vann," is debuting as pitchman in the video. Kind of reminiscent of Billy Mays, without all the yelling!
Looks like a neat product, too. And no, I don't get anything for endorsing it. :) I'm just proud of Jan & Steve. http://www.paintrifuge.com |
the next snuggie?
|
At $20, he's got to sell a lot of them to pay for that car. :haha:
It look like a handy device, for somebody that does a fair amount of painting, because that's a nasty job cleaning the rollers. |
Actually, the car does belong to "Stevie" the pitch man. All paid for. And it made a handy prop. :) I think he just wanted to show it off!
Tell you what, the guy is really lovable. Kind of obnoxious sometimes, but generous to a fault and everyone adores him. The car was given to him by his ex-girlfriend's father; apparently he kept in contact after breaking it off with the girl, ex's father liked him a whole bunch and knew he greatly admired the car. Ex's father is ill and in the process of passing out his earthly possessions, so he gave Steve this amazing car. Some guys have all the luck! |
Huh. I might even have considered buying that. If I hadn't just had my whole house painted last month...

The Paintrifuge

How do these people know when there is something being discussed here so quickly? Its so transparent.
ETA - So how did you find the Cellar within 12 hours and just "happen upon" the thread about this product? Not complainin, just seems a lil fishy. . . ya know??? |
Google alerts.
Juni, tell Jan her internet marketer doesn't know how to astroturf and is making her and the product look bad. |

Funnyface is Juniper's sockpuppet? Juniper is Funnyface's sockpuppet? I'm classicman's sockpuppet? I think I'll lie down now.:tinfoil: |
lie down - but I'm not tired yet
|
I'm sorry. I had nothing to do with Funnyface. Obviously someone involved with the product has googled it and used this as a marketing attempt. I should have seen this coming; I just wanted to brag about my friends and their new venture.
Feel free to delete the whole ill-advised thread, it won't bother me at all. |
dirty friend spammer
;) |
Viral marketing is supposed to be subtle, gentle... like a rhinovirus.
Not like freakin' ebola. Too bad the spamtastic didn't see the difference. :right: |
A bullshit gimmick re-invention of the wheel: "Now with eight sides for smoother rolling!"
A five in one tool and a brush spinner will clean a roller faster than that. Also in the video the guy take s a fully charged roller and acts like he's done painting and goes to clean it off. That kind of shit makes me want to scream. If those are your friends then you need new friends. |
maybe he was trying to show that it would clean even a totally sogged roller. My issue is that I get a 3 pack for $7 - not worth the effort nor time to clean since I paint so infrequently. If you use top of the line adn paint often maybe its a useful tool. Neat idea nonetheless.
At first I thought it was a 2 headed roller - that was an interesting idea though. |
after all....the only thing better than head, is 2 head.
|
Seems like a lot of trouble. Like classicman said, rollers are not that expensive. If I'm painting a room and might want to do another coat the next day, some saran wrap around the roller will keep it from drying out. Use it for a couple of days to finish the job, and then throw it away.
This invention is like inventing something that washes paper plates. It kind of misses the point. But when it comes to brushes, paying for high quality brushes instead of disposable foam crap is worth it. I've got excellent brushes that are ten years old. Just keep cleaning them well and taking care of them. |

Never again :headshake |
You know... it's easiest to just not paint. That's my strategy...
|
I have no problem with buying the damn rollers, just using them.

Uh, I think I said something to that effect. . . :)

Yes, I was agreeing with you.

I keep mis-parsing this as a pain-trifuge.
|
Zen, I was about to post, "I already said that!"... except then I looked back and realized I never actually wrote it, I just thought it in my head. I need a braintrifuge.

i need a sleeptrifuge.
guh night |
I've been doing painting for most of my adult life and have no trouble cleaning the roller using a strong stream from my garden hose, the trick is to angle the roller so that the spray does not go back on you and make the water hit the edge of the roller and not the center. The roller spins faster and faster and you go back and forth and the centrifugal force pulls the paint out of the roller and leaves the knapp just fine. I then remove the roller from the handle and rinse the inside and the handle and hang them to dry. Of course living in the south makes this easier then up north in the winter time but it does work.
That being said, one of my first jobs was for a guy who was a real skinflint, not only with my pay but with the materials. He had me use a roller to apply contact adhesive for making up a Formica counter top and when I discarded the sticky roller he admonished me that I should have used a gallon of lacquer thinner to get the roller clean! Some rollers are just meant to be thrown away! |
I admit, I'm a disposable-tosser too. I also buy cheap brushes and toss them. IMO, life's too short to clean some things for re-use. When I'm done painting, I'm usually so damn tired all I wanna do is wrap it all up in a wad of newspaper and be done.
OTOH there are some people who even wash out ziplock baggies for re-use. Also maybe they don't wash paper plates, but I've seen them wash foam ones, foam meat trays, etc., reuse jars and cans, wash plastic utensils, etc. I'd say there is a very real market for this. Even filling it and pouring out twice, also, it uses less water than you'd use just in the sink or with a hose. Water costs are an issue for some people. I'm not saying this is the most awesome, genius gimmick since the Sham Wow, but I still think it's kinda neat. |
I'm with Juniper on tossing rollers and brushes. I buy the cheapos, use them once and then discard them.
