Looking for voice actors ...

Wasn't sure where to put this so am putting it here!

Some of you may recall me mentioning that my best friend J is trying to get going as a games developer. he and his little team (which actually now just consists of him and one other guy :P) have been working on an i-phone game.

He's in need of a couple of American accents to do the voices in one of the game levels (I think). For a series of phrases coming over a police radio I believe.

So, any of youse guys fancy recording a handful of phrases? I think one of the voices he needs is a gruff, hick sheriff type. Not sure what the others are.

Let me know in here, or via Pm if you're up for helping :)

Although my enunciation isn't particularly sharp, I'd love to help.

You have a gorgeous voice!

I'm seeing J later this evening. So I'll get more details from him and also play him that voice clip!

Thanks for responses (here and in PM). You guys totally rock.

I've been told I have a great voice and laugh by several people. Of course, I can't really judge because I'm hearing it from inside my own head, but ...

One day I was at the bank chatting with the teller while she handled my transaction. As I left the bank, the customer at the next window also finished her bank business and followed me out. As I began crossing the parking lot, this customer called after me. I stopped and turned and she approached me, using a white cane with a red tip. She wanted to tell me how much she enjoyed hearing my voice and laugh.

I figure such a great compliment coming from a blind person must mean something.

So yeah. If you need a female voice, I'm game. I have no idea how to make a .wav of my voice tho. Prolly need some kind of microphone for that and my computer no gots.

With a name like Glinda how could you not have a melodious voice? :)

Gravdigr 07-09-2010 02:07 PM

I live in Kentucky. If he needs hick, I got it.

Clodfobble 07-09-2010 04:27 PM

Yeah, I feel bad, but that's why I hadn't posted in the thread. A girl's gotta eat...

If'n he wants any British voices am happy to commit time and voice of course.
I can do a pretty good Dervla Kirwan ripoff (M&S food porn)...

I'm available for answerphone messages too!

skysidhe 07-10-2010 09:59 AM

From hearing lj's voice on the thanksgiving video he has the least accented voice I have ever heard.

...and negative stereotypes suck anyway. Why does the American policeman have to be a hick. He could be a Bostonian or Yonkers cop and pop a cap instead.

DanaC 07-11-2010 07:07 AM

There's more than one cop. That's just the one whose character i remember :P

I suspect, though am not sure, that it is drawing on certain tv/movie cop conventions.

J is gonna try and get signed up to the cellar on Monday, so he can explain it himself. He's been hearing about this place for years lol. Been close to signing up a couple of times.

glatt 07-11-2010 07:17 AM

I'm willing to help out if he has a use for my voice, and it's just a couple lines I have to read. He can hear my voice in the video I posted in the house tour thread.

Sheldonrs 07-16-2010 04:18 PM
