Last Sunday two teens went on a crime spree stabbing two people, killing one.

They were gang wannabees. Stabbed and killed a 60 year old man.The man taking an early morning stroll thinking he was safe.

Perhaps in large cities this is an everyday occurrence? It pisses me off and leaves me in dismay.

So, the cops shouldn't have responded? We should have just let him go about his day, shooting, killing, and blowing people up? Are ya allowed to do anything and everything, as long as you're nuts? You can't negotiate, he's (your phrase) mentally ill.

Strapping what appears to be explosive devices to your body, arming yourself with a handgun, and entering an office building and taking hostages is not "bad behavior". Stripping naked running around flinging poo is "bad behavior".

Sometimes crazy people get it right, but still fail at delivering the message.

While reading Ray Kurzweil's book The Age of Spiritual Machines (deals with the philosophical implications of the inevitability of machine intelligence) I came upon two pages of quoted text. After reading and agreeing with it wholeheartedly (it was very thoughtful, well laid-out, and utterly convincing in the points it made) I discovered that I had been reading an excerpt from the Unabomber Manifesto.

How would one's survivors react to this statement:
