Something Fun to Try ...

As usual, anytime that one participates in an email mailing list, you end up with the more than occasional off-topic posting that directs one to take some kind of a stupid test.

Typically I ignore these and wait until the flurry of "oooh that's so cute" postings die down.

This one is different.

I'm anxious to see how some of the Dwellars do on this one.

wolf 02-22-2003 02:52 AM

My Score

My sanity index is 8.29 ...

"According to SaniTest(TM) assessment algorithms, you
appear to be a maniac. Although this can be a
debilitating condition, many maniacs live successful
and highly productive, if sometimes brief, lives. Some
other noted maniacs include computer innovator Steve
Jobs, freestyle skier Jonny Mosely, and hedonistic
publisher Hugh Hefner."

But remember, I AM a professional. Don't try this at
home.

That Guy 02-22-2003 07:42 AM

Funny. 6.06.

Griff 02-22-2003 08:33 AM

obviously not random

INSANITY INDEX 6.66 Your SaniTest(TM) score suggests that you are quite unhinged. Although some scientists believe this condition is genetic, others theorize that it is induced through exposure to unnatural stress. But these 'scientists,' apparently, do not hear the voices. Others who scored at this level include occultist/drug fiend Aliester Crowley and US senator Jesse Helms.

juju 02-22-2003 10:15 AM

INSANITY INDEX 5.17 Thank you for taking the SaniTest(TM). Your score falls solidly in the middle of the dark carnival that is human madness, and it indicates that you are indeed bonkers. That's a colloquial term for a condition that science simply cannot classify, marked by bizarre behavior, inappropriate verbal outbursts, and an unrealistic world view. Others who scored at this level include former Panamanian drug lord Manuel Noriega and pop sensation Britney Spears.

Elspode 02-23-2003 12:36 PM

INSANITY INDEX 6.13 This score is solidly in the middle of the spectrum of madness, and it indicates that you are a classic lunatic. Lunatics are often highly functional, and even great achievers. But their personal lives are often left in ruins as they attempt to deal with their antic inner demons. Others who scored at this level include comedian/actor Robin Williams and French philosopher Voltaire.

elSicomoro 02-23-2003 12:46 PM

INSANITY INDEX 6.43 Your SaniTest(TM) score indicates that you are utterly haywire. Your neural circuitry seems to be badly misfiring, with frightening and/or hilarious effects. You may find yourself capable of superhuman strength as a side effect, but don't count on it. Others who scored at this level include entertainer Wayne Newton and skateboarding legend Tony Hawk.
--

Damnit...that makes me a bit more normal than I thought.

Cam 02-23-2003 12:48 PM

INSANITY INDEX 4.42 Thank you for taking the SaniTest(TM). The levels and degrees of human madness are so varied and complex that scientists have not and cannot name them all. Your score suggests that you fall on a level which can be described only by the colloquial term 'bananas.' It's on the low side of the middle, and not terribly dangerous. Others who scored at this level include author Charles Fort, British fantasist Lewis Carroll, and primatologist Birute Galdikas.

at the moment I"m the most sane of the bunch :D

elSicomoro 02-23-2003 12:49 PM

Yep, that test is rigged...

wolf 02-23-2003 12:59 PM

Personally, I'm a little concerned with respect to how high my own sanity index is ... but it does kind of explain why people tend to back away from me without breaking eye contact, smile a lot, and speak in low, soothing tones.

elSicomoro 02-23-2003 01:01 PM

I want to see slang's score on this.

Cam 02-23-2003 01:04 PM

That was my first thought

FrellinFroon 02-23-2003 04:18 PM

Gee, well, as long as I'm on the same level as Nietzsche.

Froon.

INSANITY INDEX 6.28 This is a very special score. Although the SaniTest(TM) cannot provide you with a specific diagnosis, this score just reaches the level commonly referred to as 'certifiable.' This means that your family and/or loved ones, if you have any, would be able to have you legally locked away in an asylum at a moment's notice in order to gain access to your money, your possessions, or just out of revenge for all the annoying things you do. Others who scored at this level include novelist James Joyce, philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche, and none other than HP Lovecraft.

certainly it's because you owe them money.

cheers,

The froon.

What happens when we remain in dispute. There are 15 questions I refuse to answer without clarification. Some because I don't even know what they are asking. The test insists I answer them anyway. I refuse without a 'write in' option. Do I get a 0 or infinity? I refuse to answer. It refuses to give me a score.

wolf 02-24-2003 01:00 AM

I suddenly think that tw's score will be much more interesting that slang's.

(although J03's might be illuminating as well)

Your score is:113

INSANITY INDEX 5.99 Thank you for taking the SaniTest(TM). This score indicates that you are distempered. Dogs with this condition are routinely put down, but similarly afflicted humans are usually left free to roam the streets, root through dumpsters, and even run for public office. Others who scored at this level include Ugandan dictator Idi Amin, playwright George Bernard Shaw, and actress Melanie Griffith.
Hey Graham! I got a dagger of Ogre slaying!
You aren't there! You're in a tavern getting drunk!
Okay! But if Melanie Griffith is there, I want to do her!!!

Stress Puppy 02-24-2003 04:27 PM

INSANITY INDEX 6.58 Thank you for taking the SaniTest(TM). Your score suggests that you are completely unbalanced. This is not a terribly serious condition, and can even be rather charming if not mixed with a violent temper or serious subtance abuse problem. Others who scored at this level include publisher Larry Flynt and famed explorer Ferdinand Magellan.

..... Yeah.

slang 02-24-2003 05:51 PM

Your score is:128
For easier understanding, the HPLHS SaniTest assessment algorithm converts your raw score to a scale of 1 to 10. This number is your INSANITY INDEX.

INSANITY INDEX 7.11 Thank you for taking the SaniTest(TM). Your score indicates that you are markedly unstable. You likely have difficulty concentrating, occasionally make very bad choices, and are susceptible to dramatic mood swings that can lead to social embarrassment and/or gunplay. Other notable people who scored at this level include hard-drinking author Ernest Hemingway and incredibly wealthy murderer John DuPont.

Nice, but I had the day off from my shit job from hell today. I'd like to take this test again immediately following my daily guided visualization session/fantasy in which I kill 95% of the world's population with a handle from a desk drawer and a roll of wheat pennies. :) Then, I'll do much better.

wolf 02-25-2003 01:03 AM

The test is amazingly accurate. :)

But damn, I scored higher than slang???

Bitman 02-25-2003 06:44 PM

Things you've been dying to know (yes you have, admit it):

Lowest score:

Your SaniTest(TM) Results

Your score is:73

INSANITY INDEX 3.01 Thank you for taking the SaniTest(TM). Your score suggests that you are about fifty cards to the deck, perhaps as a result of exposure to traumatic stress. You may wish to seek some tranquil surroundings, or hide in a closet for an extended period of time. Others who scored at this level include abrasive radio personality Howard Stern and first lady Laura Bush.

Highest score:

Peter Ambrose from Wellington was examined on 1/14/03.
The patient scored 178 on the SaniTest (TM) scale and was assessed as: Absolutely psychotic and highly dangerous. Insanity Index 10.00

How do you score someone who attack the test - and then suffers injuries when the test retaliates?

Carpentry is so much easier. You get to beat on nails, and they rarely fight back or disagree. My hammer is big and has teeth. Is there any category on that test for this additional information?

No, that's a saw. The hammer is also big, but no teeth -- at most a claw.

warch 02-26-2003 03:03 PM

If I had a hammer...

Uryoces 02-26-2003 03:30 PM

I think tw has a drywall hammer. The teeth leave indentations that the mud[plaster] can cling to. I assume it's used for drywall.

jaguar 02-27-2003 01:56 AM

hard to make eye contact over the horizon anyway

jmf 03-03-2003 08:31 AM

I always felt sort of schitzothymic...

predisposed to excessive introversion and morbid fantasy... scored with Nick Nolte (trying to to think of TSG) and Sir Francis Bacon... The only thing I ever envied NN for was punching Eddy Murphy...
