Essential Tremors Disease.

Wonder what else is going wrong. Guess I'll know when lab work from yesterday gets back. Having very little depth perception and this crap has put a stop to lots of projects. Slot headed screw, caps back on tubes. Just forget it.
Talking with Sis, by phone, other day. She has had it for years and said Mom had it.

• Genetic mutation. The inherited variety of essential tremor (familial tremor) is an autosomal dominant disorder. A defective gene from just one parent is needed to pass on the condition.
If you have a parent with a genetic mutation for essential tremor, you have a 50 percent chance of developing the disorder yourself.
• Age. Essential tremor is more common in people age 40 and older.

Ain't that nice.

DanaC 10-17-2015 02:07 PM

Ah man that sucks buster:(

xoxoxoBruce 10-17-2015 03:23 PM

I would have guessed eye problems were from welding, but somehow knowing why, and having someone to blame, doesn't help much.
And knowing it could be worse is no consolation, either. Just sucks. :(

Clodfobble 10-17-2015 04:45 PM

Sorry, Buster. Is typing still going okay, or does the tremor interfere with that as well?

It makes my trackball mouse hell sometimes, like highlighting something.
@ xob The va, not welding screwed up my right eye.

xoxoxoBruce 10-17-2015 10:28 PM

The VA screwed up your right eye? In addition to the essential tremor thing?
Then I'm not letting you pick out any women for me, damnit, by the time I got to them you'd have brailled all over them. :headshake

Griff 10-18-2015 08:12 AM

Sorry man.

fargon 10-18-2015 09:37 AM

There are times when the VA, just pisses me off.

Griff 10-18-2015 09:57 AM

Politicians give lip service to fixing that mess, but that is all.

classicman 10-18-2015 10:14 AM

Bummer. Sorry BB.

infinite monkey 10-18-2015 01:28 PM

Hang in there bb. :(

BigV 10-19-2015 11:24 AM

Can't help with the slot head screws, I hate those fuckers too. But you might find this interesting.

It's about a hundred bucks, which is a lot of money for a spoon.

busterb 10-19-2015 07:08 PM

For years I thought my tremors were caused by drinking. I remember a man I worked for, asking how could I weld shaking like that. I told him that to weld you had to move the rod around to remove impurities, I just hold as still as I can . No work.
@BV I've been eating with a spoon for years, less clean up.

busterb 10-21-2015 09:21 AM

After searching various spellings of a drug name my Dr. scratched down, I came up with Topamax.
If that's correct, no way. Link is to FDA .pdf.

a blockage of fluid in the eye causing increased pressure in the eye (secondary angle closure glaucoma).
If this becomes a problem, I know someone who just had laser treatment for it a couple weeks ago. It seemed to be successful.

Is it the potential side effects that worry you? (I ask this as someone who takes an anticonvulsant and loves it, so I admit I am probably biased.)

Yes. I have glaucoma, copd. And so far I think I still have my liver. I mailed her a letter today. Guess we'll talk it over soon. Still waiting on my labs.

busterb 10-25-2015 07:36 AM

Dr. ***** reviewed my labs and wrote, "All are within normal limits, stable, or acceptable for you."
She gave me Flomax for enlarged prostrate.
She didn't test my thyroid. Here's what I had given her in my notes.
"Thyroid is better, not cold as much. Still have split nails, which is hard on nose and runs in stockings." :jig:

I saw a neurologist on the 8th and they are going to give me one of the spoons that Bigv posted. Guess what meds she is sending me? Yep the same one I refused from my Dr. TOPIRAMATE. Ain't life grand?

orthodoc 12-17-2015 06:13 AM

That spoon looks like a fantastic product. I hope it works well for you, bb. As for the Topamax, can you talk over your concerns with your doc? Maybe she'd be willing to try a different medication.

Griff 12-17-2015 06:14 AM

Are you going to take it or are you still on the fence about it?

busterb 12-17-2015 05:37 PM

Well it hasn't came yet, so I'll try to talk to someone.

Clodfobble 12-17-2015 09:22 PM

I got my uncle one of those spoons. He likes it (insofar as it is possible for him to like anything that reminds him he has Parkinson's.)

xoxoxoBruce 12-17-2015 10:00 PM

Be patience buster, everything is moving slowly. I just found out my shark that shoots laser beams won't be here until Wednesday.

BigV 12-17-2015 11:02 PM

frickin' lasers

Buster, I wish you the best, man. I like you and it kind of pisses me off to hear your tales of the bullshit you have to go through. I wish there was something I could do to help.

Big Sarge 12-18-2015 05:32 AM

Hey BusterB. The VA first time around tried to diagnose me with essential tremors, but it ended up being the neurological damage. Anyway the treatment is the same - beta blockers. I and most of the guys with the same issues I know with the problem get Toprol 3 times a day.

Don't let the VA fuck you over!! I'm using my Medicare and Tricare for Life to stay out of VA hell as much as I can

fargon 12-18-2015 05:35 AM

I'm having good luck with the VA. But that could change at any minute.

busterb 12-18-2015 07:01 PM

The meds came today, but on hold till the retina Dr. replies to my IM. The spoon, I have to go to va for it. Maybe more than one weight? Also got 90 tabs of Guaifenesin, just got them 10 days ago. So wtf is someone thinking? I'm eating them for snacks.

busterb 12-18-2015 09:01 PM

A friend asked me to take a ride yesterday, said would buy lunch. So we did. I had a side of coleslaw. He ask, any good. Well what little I could keep on the fork isn't bad.

That's why I don't eat out much. Also I'm out of touch with the cost of things.

Sometimes I go the long way at a problem. I was nicking myself when shaving,
so I went and got a septic pen. Well the damn light finally came on. Norelco razor, no more nicks. :corn:
I made this a few years ago. think I'll fill with sand or shot. Camera holder.

Griff 12-28-2015 12:28 PM

That's smart.

xoxoxoBruce 12-29-2015 12:07 AM

Had a Norelco for a few years, very happy with it until I just quit shaving. My armpits are a jungle now. ;)
That Camera rack looks like it would be a lot easier to hold steady. I wonder how well the anti-shake cameras work, might handle that last 5%.
