Europe can't escape!
 

Today Madrid was hit by one of the most horrible terror attacks ever known to Europe. This morning about 7.30 local time 4 bombs exploded during rush-hour in different trains

Right know the death toll is up to 180 people and 1000 wounded. Most people believed it was ETA a nationalistic terror organisation which wants independance of a part of northern Spain. But until now they always warned the authorities at time or only had a few deaths. So more and more are thinking this attack could have an islamistic background...
My thoughts are with the death, the wounded, their family and friends.

As more powerful weapons work their way down the food chain we should be prepared for more and bigger of the same.

I'm just waiting till they hit a subway here in DC. I quit taking them. Yeah, I know, I know.

The CSI policemen (they're called CEDAX here) have said that the explosives use the same components that ETA have used in other attacks.
Actually ETA has lost many people and they are using unexperienced people. They think that this is the reason there was no phone call in advance about this attack.
Clearly this has got a lot worse than ETA thougth (no, I'm not saying that if they call in advance this thing would be better, but ETA think so) and they are creating a lot more hate than expected.

It looks like it's our mideast friends at it again. They found a note inside a van. Too bad for the Spanish. Think it had anything to do with them being with us on the Iraq War? I think so.

Al-Qaeda has now claimed responsibility, and it appears that 10 bombs detonated on several different trains nearly simultaneously, and three more unexploded devices were found.

Bastards.

I'm wondering when something similar will occur on either an Amtrak train (especially the Acela because it is their flagship line) or one of the major city's train systems. They seem to be inevitable targets.

That was just a training run, so to speak. Give them time, something like that would be easy to do here as well.

It's always interesting to watch people twist the events to fit their concept of what's happening in the world.

Amusing. But what's really laughable is some people are stupid enough to believe Bush is defending America when in fact he's more dangerous to America than the combined effort of every single terrorist in the middle-east.

It may be a LITTLE more complicated than that.

Absolutely--unless they've changed in the last few months, they have absolutely zero security. (OK, maybe they xray checked baggage? But they don't check anything you carry on the train with you. And they don't make any attempt to verify that you are the person listed on your ticket when they come to collect it.)

How about a shopping mall? Sitting ducks from a security standpoint, and heavy symbolism for anybody wishing to make a statement about America's worship of Mammon.

Or subways...or buses. Just about anything without the tightest of security is fair game, and if "they" are already living among us...well, it's only a matter of time, isn't it?

The focus of two recent county-wide emergency services drills (one live, one tabletop) both focused on local malls as targets.

The event I attend was a radiological bomb in the food court scenario ... and involved rescuers as well as civilians down.

Let me tell you, it was really cool seeing the SWAT guys in Biochem suits chasing a 'terrorist' around the second deck of the Willow Grove Mall.

There's another one coming up later this spring, don't have details yet, though.

Who said I was talking about anyone here? I was making a comment about all of the stupid people in general who support Bush, his imperialistic foreign policy, and his fascist domestic policy.

That's not a red herring (which would be an attempt to bring something unrelated into the conversation in an attempt to divert attention from the real issue). It's a valid commentary about the people who support the man whose foreign policy caused this attack in Spain.

We can add these 200 people to the 500+ Americans, hundreds of allied people, and thousands of innocent Iraqi people who have died as a direct result of Bush's unwarranted, unprovoked, unconstitutional war of imperialistic aggression against a non-threatening nation that never attacked America or our allies or even helped anyone else attack America.

Bush alone started that war and every death related to it, rests on his shoulders.

Al Queda's next shot will be in Philadelphia. Around 7:00 March 21st, 2004, they're taking Veteran's Stadium down.

(Yeah, it's sick. But I have an image stuck in my mind of a newspaper with a photo of the demolition of Veteran's Stadium on the front and "VETERAN'S STADIUM DESTROYED/AL QUEDA TAKES RESPONSIBILITY" as the headline, and who better to share it with than Cellarites?)
