Welcome to the Bordeaux Book Fair, and a little display called ""X-Times People Chair" by German artist Angie Hiesl. In other words, the woman is sitting there intentionally. Not sure how long she sat there, or if she's still sitting there today, or how this promotes books in any way.

Actually Ms. Hiesl's installation is not only for this fair but is a traveling work, and this woman WAS at one point reading...

I bet there's a giant magnet on the other side of that wall.

I'd want a seat belt.

Does anyone else have this response to heights? I love the feeling but it is scary too because I always have this fleeting image of me spreading my arms and launching myself into space.

There's got to be a joke about the French in here somewhere.

Weren't the French the ones with the glass public toilets? Or was that England?

Anyhoo, regarding IOD, I like the way her gaze is repeated in the window carving.

No, and carpenters/engineers didn't cause this.

Nor were there engineers who caused this ... ;)

(although, I'm sure it was quite a feat of enginnering to accomplish)..

The coolest thing about the Maplethorpe trial...Barrie was acquited of obsentity charges by a Cincinatti(!) jury that found artistic merit in the sexual images. Oh and no one was crushed to death, just caught an eyeful of penis skin that the models were proud of.
