cowhead 03-17-2005 11:25 AM

which is to say get ahold of me at cowhead33@yahoo.com or PM me here... I have quite a collectiom.. and want more...I want country and jazz (and not new shit)

perth 03-17-2005 11:38 AM

Maybe we should start discussing the CMEP again...

lookout123 03-17-2005 11:43 AM

Perth, could you define CMEP to an ignorant individual? that's me, in case you were looking around for one.

cowhead 03-17-2005 12:04 PM

yeah I gotta go with lookout on that.. I like acronyms more than the next guy but... there are so many of them anymore (not to start a new topic) uh.. clue me in

cowhead 03-17-2005 12:05 PM

so who's up for it?

cowhead 03-17-2005 12:10 PM

To transform the emptiness of loneliness, to the fullness of aloneness. Ah, that is the secret of life. - Sunita Khosla

not to hijack my own thread.. but damn.. yeah that's the trick I suppose. been working on that for years. one day I'll get it I guess.. ya know we ought to have a cellar bbq someday... in somewhere that's middle ground. 250 miles I can do.. just a thought.. music... sleep... st. patricks... work.. full day

Sorry. Duh. CMEP - Cellar Music Exchange Project. I won't go into too much detail, it's an idea LJ had a while back. It wasn't "music swapping", it was more "sharing with others the music we enjoy".

The quote has been my mantra since my divorce. I knew I had to work on making myself happy before I could be any good to anyone else.

Clodfobble 03-17-2005 12:34 PM

Heck yeah, I'd like to do it again! I missed out on joining in the first one, and really regretted it.

wolf 03-17-2005 12:47 PM

Does anybody admit to having my CD from the first round??

I'm curious as to what, if anything, made it onto the sheaf of papers I stuck inside the CD cover for fun and frolic ...

Undertoad 03-17-2005 12:55 PM

The first one fell apart quickly because it was too big. For a while I proposed a smaller and more manageable version of it, which would involve downloading the songs from here. But Dicamore kept arguing for a larger version that would eat more of my bandwidth. So I dropped it.

perth 03-17-2005 01:03 PM

What if we several smaller circles of say, 5 people?

BigV 03-17-2005 01:06 PM

*waves hand vigorously*
Pick me! Pick me!

current iTunes songlist >4200 tracks

perth 03-17-2005 01:07 PM

I'll try to describe that a bit better...

Say we have 25 people. Break that out into 5 groups of 5 who mail the cd's to each other. Hell, with only 4 other people to worry about, I could just burn a copy for each and send them out.

Each member gets their own thread where the playlist is either posted or linked (for people who don't want to know beforehand) and if you want to hear another user's disc, you can either find the songs yourself, or contact the user privately to request a disc.

perth 03-17-2005 01:07 PM

Oh, and the group breakout is all random. I can't say "I call UT for my group!".

Beestie 03-17-2005 01:11 PM

I'm in for whatever it turns out to be.

I was wondering about that too.

(Not that I wasn't part of the problem, after the first 5 or 6 mailings.)

wolf 03-17-2005 01:23 PM

I'm also in. I loved it the last time.

jinx 03-17-2005 05:00 PM

I'm in.

perth 03-17-2005 05:04 PM

Any other suggestions on how we could go about doing this?

perth 03-17-2005 05:20 PM

And actually, I'm kind of working this out on a spreadsheet, but if we did it in small groups, we could rotate the groups around every 2 weeks, or once a month. The discs could be sent back to their owners or sent directly to your new group members. Although the second (probably cheaper) method, is likely going to be more complex. I might be making this more difficult than it needs to be.

kerosene 03-17-2005 07:19 PM

Um....I know I have some discs. I have Elspode's for sure. I remember really liking wolf's and blue's discs, but I don't think I have them anymore...I would have sent them to LJ, unless I didn't.

I loved the cmep, but got way behind with all that was going on in my life at the time. It would be fun to do it again without so many sendings and such. I like perth's simpler idea. I'm in if you guys will let me.

lumberjim 03-18-2005 05:52 AM

i'll piggyback with jinx if the method permits it. if not, i dont think i'll have the time to play nicely.

perth 03-18-2005 10:24 AM

Does anyone object to me trying to organise this?

wolf 03-18-2005 10:30 AM

Nope. Go for it!

kerosene 03-18-2005 11:28 AM

I object! No, wait...I don't. Oh, but I want to do it too, and so does my imaginary friend.

chainsaw 03-18-2005 12:33 PM

*scratches head* So... we burn a cd with a compilation of our favorite music?

Sort of. the basics are:
1. You burn a disc
2. ???
3. The disc is reviewed by your peers in the CMEP.
4. Profit!

Steps 2 and 3 might be mixed up.

If you're interested in joining up, post
here.

It was a lot of fun last time, and hopefully we've simplified it quite a bit.

LOL - that is one of my favorite episodes.

wolf 03-18-2005 01:53 PM

Would it help people's time availability if we limited the number of tracks per CD? like keep it down to 10 or so ... sometimes finding the time to listen to a full 80 minute CD was a little hairy ...

Oh, man, I just thought of quite a few lovely things I didn't have access to before that I can put on this CD ... oh so cool!

Undertoad 03-18-2005 02:41 PM

I for one am going the other way with this at the next opportunity. Mine is gonna be like 4-5 songs. Not long songs either. It's too hard to digest everyone's stuff if one is on limited time during an particular 2 weeks.

Whoah, deja vu.

xoxoxoBruce 03-18-2005 06:32 PM

Just copy and pass it like Thanksgiving dinner. Then you can consume at your own pace. :)
