8/1/2005: Porcupined dog
http://cellar.org/2005/porcupinedog.jpg
If it's an animal pic, and not Friday, it's not gonna be good. Making the rounds is this bull terrier's encounter with a porcupine. http://cellar.org/2005/porcupinedog2.jpg One hopes the puppy lives and one wonders how it could possibly have gone so wrong. |
This just makes my face hurt.
|
Somewhere, there's a balding porcupine feeling a draft and asking "What the hell is that?!"
|
That is a new kind of hurt right there.. Porcupine: 1, Dog: 0
|
The porcupine evolved this defense to keep from getting attacked and eaten, right? Looks to me like it didn't work. I suspect rather a lot of dogs would keep attacking that thing no matter how many spines they collected.
Dogs are too dumb for this kind of defense to work, and besides, he'll heal. Sucks to be the porcupine. |
seriously. if i try to bite something 238 times and each of those 238 times something sharp and pointy imbeds itself in my flesh - i'm going to quit biting it. well, maybe 240 is the magic number...
|
I'd hate to have this guy's vet bill. I feel sorry for the dog. Any other breed would have probably left it alone after the first encounter, BUT NO.. NOT THE BULL TERRIER.
I just hope he still has eyeballs....stupid mutt...... |
They never learn. . .
Gee...that sounds so familiar...where have I seen something like that before? <sarcasm>Huummmm....</sarcasm>
Oh, yeah. Here. Long time ago too http://cellar.org/2002/sailor.jpg The older one got off a whole lot better though I've been lurking here too damned long. I think I remember most of everything that's been on IoTD |
somehow this dog just got a bit less ugly
http://cellar.org/2005/uglydog.jpg |
I'm guessing that's going to take anasthesia and a lot of time to get all those out. The vet bill is going to be huge.
|
reminds me of a joke about my exwife...something along the lines of "if she had as many pricks sticking out as she has going in she'd look like a porcupine..."
|
my dog has a little bull terrier in him and he's a little dense, but i cannot imagine any dog that single-mindedly intent on doing ill to a porcupine

Porqupined Dog
For those interested in removing quills: http//www.thepetcenter.com/gen/pg.html
None of the pictures look anything like the one here. The family dog, a not very smart dalmatian, used to mix with porqupines. My father removed the quills, but it wasn't fun or easy. The dunb - er- not very smart - dog never did learn to leave those particular animals alone. |

shoot... I am quite nasty-picture-resistant, but this one almost made me puke. Poor (and STUPID) dog. How does it looks now?
Interesting how much did it cost to remove all this shit? |
Hmm... Looks like Merlin is smarter than one other dog anyway. Actually he's bright just a little over-enthusiastic. It only took one porky incident.
|
"You should've seen the other guy."
|
Now that the quills are removed (and assuming that the dog is still stupid, which is a safe bet), that porcupine could be in a world of hurt....
Dog: "Remember me, porky?" Porcupine: "Shit." (cue Keystone Kops music, running fx) |
now that is funny mrn.
