1/31/2006: Loaded train

http://cellar.org/2006/loadedtrain.jpg

I always go for these third world loaded train images. Something draws me in about them - the masses, getting from point A to point B without a lot of money. In this case it's Bangladesh, Muslims returning home from a three-day prayer gathering.

Pancake Man 01-31-2006 02:04 PM

Do any of them actually ride inside ?? :eyebrow:

YellowBolt 01-31-2006 02:07 PM

That just wouldn't be cool.

Leah 01-31-2006 03:20 PM

I'd like to see the Ticket Inspector check all those tickets to make sure they have paid the correct price. :p

Guess 01-31-2006 03:28 PM

how does the conductor see anything with all those guys in front?

Elspode 01-31-2006 03:52 PM

See the guys on the front, pointing out ahead? They're the guides. "Keep going straight, man...that's it, forward, forward. Clean and green as far as the eye can see, yessir..."

barefoot serpent 01-31-2006 04:29 PM

I'd still wave at the engineer.

Trilby 01-31-2006 04:32 PM

Bangladesh. The country everybody always has concerts for!

xoxoxoBruce 01-31-2006 04:46 PM

I wonder if the oncoming train will be just as loaded....before the crash? :speechls:

wolf 01-31-2006 05:05 PM

How do you think they deal with their overpopulation problem? They can't count on natural disasters.

Target 01-31-2006 07:05 PM

This screams Mad Max movie to me..rail warrior?

capnhowdy 01-31-2006 07:08 PM

These people ARE natural disasters.

I thought I heard the OJ's singing in the background.

AureliusVin 01-31-2006 08:47 PM

Hey, have you guys seen, The Arab Express. It's the "feel-good" movie of the winter.

xoxoxoBruce 01-31-2006 09:30 PM

moonspider666 01-31-2006 10:11 PM

they're the cow catchers.

kelliekd 01-31-2006 11:43 PM

The guy on the right looks like he is about to fall off, and they are on a bridge. If somebody DOES fall off, would the train stop, or leave them to hitch-hike on the next train?

GruntDoc 02-01-2006 12:07 AM

This explains the "500 dead in train wreck" headlines from this part of the world.

And, if it's this crowded outside, imagine the inside. Then, imagine the smell.

jaguar 02-01-2006 03:35 AM

I've been on a few trains like that, not quite that bad but close, as a rule they stop when someone falls off. This can be quite regularly. What gets me is the dudes that go though selling snacks still ram their way through when it's this packed.

They have actually taken to using diapers during the tourist season, since the bathrooms are crowded with passengers, also.

How in hell would they know if someone fell off?

Very telling that there are grills over the forward facing window.
