banana banana

I just put up a batch of my homemade banana liqeuer. Yum! Can't make enough of the stuff to keep people satisfied!

That sounds good! Can you share a recipe or is it a family secret?

Kozmique 02-09-2006 04:50 PM

Well, it's not exactly a secret but it's just something I made up and tends to differ from batch to batch. I have a machine that does all the work, I just add the ingredients, which are: bananas, rum, vodka, brown sugar, and vanilla. I guess it is a little secret because I find myself reluctant to give away the exact preparation of the bananas ;) Anyway I have no idea how you would do it without the machine!

can you send us a link to this wounderous toy ???

Happy Monkey 02-09-2006 06:01 PM

One of these, perhaps?

Kozmique 02-13-2006 11:59 AM

I searched for it online, but I couldn't find it. It's old. It's called Cordially Yours cordial maker.

FallenFairy 02-16-2006 05:59 AM

I thought I found the cordial maker on E-bay - but alas... it was gone...
here is a great article about making cordials: http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/pac...225/taste.html

and of course the requisite bad joke...
How do you make a Georgia peach cordial?
You give her a shot of whiskey and tell her she has pretty hair.... lmao

BigV 02-16-2006 10:22 AM

Those sound delicious. Blackberries can be had in *abundance* around here in season. Perhaps we'll pickle some this year. Usually we, ahem, MrsV, preserves them. Homemade strawberry jam on the kids' pbjs this morning, in fact.

FallenFairy 02-16-2006 10:48 AM

Hey Big V - that's is one thing I definitely miss about the Puget Sound... blackberries, red huckleberries, blue huckleberries, salmonberries... and the list goes on....
I used to make a blackberry syrup that would knock socks off!

Kozmique 02-18-2006 11:08 PM

Thanks for the link, Fallen. I was actually considering trying out a recipe using the herb tarragon, which the author probably wouldn't recommend. Sounds weird, yes, but there is an Armenian tarragon soda that's actually really good so I think it may work. I've made a decent raspberry cordial before and also an interesting cardamom/clove blend that some friends of mine swore was great mixed with Coke.

Here is the link to the company that made the machine. It appears to have been discontinued as no mention is made of it.

I would be interested in the cardamon/clove - that sounds really good!
keep me informed re: the tarragon.... I am seriously considering trying to make some cordials.

Creme de Banana

I found this recipe for a banana liqueur-sounds really simple(hopefully not too good to be true), although I have not shopped for everclear since I was in my early 20s :p http://www.lusionspub.com/banana.html

If you can't be a good example, you'll just have to settle for being a terrible warning

I have been looking for this type of Cordial Machine for a very long time! A family friend had one, but it has been misplaced! Do you have any idea where one can be purchased? Or even a manufacturer and product code?

Welcome KY Gal!
The strange things that draw people to the cellar. Some come for the cordial machine, some come for the whale penis, some come for the horny moose.

Sorry but I'm not from the US and to me KY is a state second and a personal lubricant first. ... sorry!
