Depressing...

Just a single link to a depressing story from the last election. It's obviously unverified, so your mileage may vary.

I think it's most likely that this sort of shit goes on all over the country, on a local level, as a result of city and county political machines throwing their weight around, rather than a big conspiracy on the state or national level.
I don't think any one party has a corner on it either.

That may have been true before the Republicans got a corner on the electronic voting machine industry, and blocked any attempt to make them verifiable. The Democrats are hamhanded amateurs in comparison.

Let's get Beestie's response out of the way first:

In fact, I personally witnessed the way in which the Republican controlled precincts of my town handled those who had registered as Democrat in the last presidential election. They "lost" all our voter registration records. When I went to vote, my name was not on the list of registered voters. This, despite the fact that I have been on the voter registration lists in this county for 10 years. I was sent to stand in line with 6 or 7 other people - ALL registered Democrats whose names for some mysterious reason had not shown up on the voter registration list. We had a very LONG wait to cast our provisional ballots and discussed the subject at length. One precinct in one county in one state. Just my personal experience. :eyebrow:

They do the best they can, with what they got. Granted what they got, has become unbalanced. :(

I'm a Libertarian, thus some think I'm a weirdie even for California. I can find my name on the Roster of Voters every single freakin' election.

I might have to sit out of being a polls inspector in the upcoming June primary, though -- prior, ongoing commitment that is likely to interfere. Might be done by the time mid-term elections come around in November.

Surprisingly, Mr Fargon experienced almost the exact same thing, except he was in Urbana IL and all the people he was waiting with had been registered republicans.

I don't endorse it, but that BS does go both ways.
