4W5 Cafe Closing
I only found the 4W5 Cafe two years ago and it is already closing. It had a nice stage and never had that cramped feel that so many small clubs have.
March will be the last month for regular acts. |

Pat Wictor and Nik Everett Sat Night at 8:00
Jeffrey and I are going to see Pat Wictor and Nik Everett Saturday night at 8:00 at the 4W5 Cafe. This is the next to last regular show before the cafe closes for good. The cover is $5
Would anyone like to join us? We might have dinner before going down there, but the cafe has a nice light menu. |
Whatever you do, don't mention my name.

4W5 Wrap Party
You all missed a great event. Free music, food, beer, and wine. There were bluegrass and blues jams out on the sidewalk. Indoors was some intense blues performances. The only problem I had was that it was LOUD.
I took a few video clips. All in all, a sad event but a nice party. |
4W5 Cafe Closing
I only discovered 4W5 Cafe last summer and am terribly saddened that it has closed. It was a real gem for listening to live music. Very relaxed and unpretentious, and lots of good music. I had been looking forward to another summer of weeks spent visiting the 4W5 on Tuesdays and Thursdays for folk/bluegrass and blues jam nights. I don't know anything similar that can replace it. If anyone has some good tips on where else to go listen to live music without having to fight the crowds, please let me know.

4W5 Cafe Closing
Well that sucks. Dare I ask? Does this mean that all their former patrons are going to start posting on the cellar?
I'm still not sure who to take off my ignore list. :3_eyes: |
4W5 Cafe closing
Of course it doesn't mean that. But would it be such a bad thing?

Welcome to the Cellar, Tim. Not to worry, 3foot was making a sarcastic reference to some shit that doesn't involve you. :D

Thanks for the clarification, Bruce, and for the greeting. I've been looking for a forum like the cellar since I moved to the area three and a half years ago, and so I'm glad to have finally found it.

If you didn't make the 4W5 closing party, you missed a great event. Polly is maintaining the e-mail list, so if anything comes up I will post it here. The Tuesday and Thursday Jam sessions have been relocated to the Brandywine Hotel. I did see a notice for a church on Shipley looking for musicians for some kind of regular event, so there will be alternatives in the area. If I find anything as laid back as 4W5, I'll let everyone know. |

Sarcastic? Moi? Hi Tim, welcome. The cellar is an oasis of some sort. and self policing. Maybe I was getting complacent, taking things for granted. Anyway. I'm creeping up on 1000. Other folks who have been members here barely a week are likely to best me. There I go again. |
Rich--
Thanks for the heads-up on the Brandywine Hotel and the church on Shipley. I'm not sure what church you are referring to, but I'll figure it out. The jam nights had been my favorites, so I'll definitely check out the Brandywine Hotel and will look forward to any other announcements of laidback music events. Thanks again. Tim |
Hey, 3foot--
Thanks for the welcome. I'm sure we'll be conversing some more as time goes on. I figured I was missing something contextually from your earlier posting and appreciate the clarification. Take care. Tim |
