A Mom's Special from Mom's Deli (4412 Jamieson Ave., St. Louis, MO 63109 USA...sorry, no website): ham, roast beef, turkey, munchee cheese, lettuce, tomatoes and homemade 1000 Island dressing on French bread. $4.95 plus tax. Voted the best deli in St. Louis for something like 15 straight years.

A spinach salad, with sesame dressing. I thought we were having spaghetti and meatballs for dinner tonight, so I went with a light lunch. Now I'm starving, and I just found out...no spaghetti and meatballs. :sniff:
|
So, Mr. Blue is currently doubled over in pain from you kicking him in the nads over no spaghetti? :)

Don't give me any ideas! I'm just cranky enough...

I'm going to have leftover chip-shop chips (chunky fried chipped potatoes, not french fries) from last night. Reheated in the microwave at work. Can't wait - they're really salt & vinegary and will make the whole place smell like a chip-shop.
Although am having tea & biscuits until I clear this mailout from my desk - chip grease is not really appreciated on letters to GPs. |

There are tricks to finding a good place to eat on the road, several of which involve the use of my CB and THIRD ANTENNA. I am also amused at the four wheel travelers who think that any place a trucker eats just HAS to be good! My favorite trick, however, involves the creative use of my crock pot for hot meals for little money. I budget $100/week for eats, although I met a gf for lunch yesterday and wound up spending a C note on lunch at Chilies, a place that I usually avoid. Payoff: she brought two friends and I didn't get back "home" until midnight! :thumb2: |
