YES I agree!! Although I do the opposite when a telemarketer calls. I make sure my mouth is full!! Or I drink something...

I find "are you eating or giving a blow job" quite an effective mouth emptier. Especially when it's my children calling. :)

Until the day when you get back the reply, "Mmm Mmnnn mn Mmuuhhh Mmuhhhh!"

I ALWAYS tell the caller to call back when they are done eating and then I hang up before they can reply.

Thanks for that. it had occured to me shortly after i posted this thread that i might get a string of prank, food stuffed calls from those who know where i work. my ext is 2308, btw.....just so no one calls the operator and asks to speak to 'lumberjim'

I used to work on the phone... you people have NO IDEA.

Why don't people just hang-up on telemarketers? If you don't like them, don't like talking to them, just hang-up... it hurts my damn head!
My Dad: "Who was that?"
Me" "Telemarketer"
"You didn't say anything, you just hung-up"
"Yeah? I don't like talking to telemarketers, don't think it should be legal. Got nothing to say."
"But, but... you just hung-up"
"...aaannnnd?"
"I could never do that"

When I was a student I used to do market research by phone -I'd rather people just hung up if they're not interested. I got paid by the hour not the survey, but the more I got done, the more likely I was to get more work. You're not interested then I'm not interested lets hang up and move on. Since doing that i'm more likely to do a phone interview, but if you're selling something, I'm just hanging up. We don't really get any sales calls since we went on the do not call list. We're ex-directory too, although by accident rather than choice!

These people are just trying to make a living - annoyingly, I grant you. I listen, say "no, thank you", they usually try to overcome an objection, I say "no, thank you. Goodbye", and that's that. Why be mean or rude?

When the phone companies were all competing for business, I would always embellish my existing plan, and the knuckleheads would come up with some outrageous counter-offer. I got my phone bill reduced by about 70% over 3 months, just by taking the next best offer that came down the road. :p

Oh, and I once was solicited to buy lightbulbs. I lied that I was going into the service the very next day. The sales person recommended that I buy some for my parents. I lied, telling her that I was going into the military because my parents died in a tragic car accident. Her response was "oh....goodbye"
