I was cleaning up my system and came across these (I think) song lyrics, can you name the author?

Suburban sun is slowly dying
Suburban moon it never lives
The wife just nods when you get home now
You stay together for the kids

Six o'clock you watch the headlines
By half-past ten your eyes are glued
You spent the daylight making deadlines
Tonight the TV's making you

You may watch the world in color
In the corner, burning bright
You may watch the world in color
But you dream in black and white.

Shadows flicker across your face now
The image sinks inside your brain
With just a few more magic dollars
You could make yourself a name

Sporty cars surround your castle
With a roof antenna reaching to the sky
A commercial message for the good life
It's just a simulated lie

You may watch the world in color
Your only friend when times are tight
You may watch the world in color
But you dream in black and white.

...I can't, but thought I'd share anyway.

The song is "Dream in Black & White" by Steve Taylor.

Wow that was quick.

Thanks, Syc, now I can remember where I got this. A friend who listens to Steve Taylor sent me an email with the lyrics... now I'll hafta get the song somewhere.

Couldn't find many references to Steve Taylor, the ones I did find didn't list that song anywhere... except BMG who sells a double-cd set with that song.

Do you know, is Steve Taylor worth listening to? The cds are a little expensive (I'd hafta join BMG to get them anyway) for just one song.

It was kind of cool how I found it. I went to Google and inserted the line "Suburban moon it never lives" in the search field.

I've never heard him, but I've heard OF him. He straddles the punk and Christian lines apparently.

You may want to try one of the Christian music newsgroups. I'm sure someone there would know of a site that has mp3's of his work.
