Speed Up IE and Firefox

They claim it will speed up Internet explorer and Firefox but I haven't tried it, so don't blame me if you swerve into a crowd and kill 6 people.

It seems a wee bit faster but nothing to celebrate with chocolate candy for.

Great post Bruce. Firefox is quite a bit faster now. Thanks.

Forget if Firefox is faster, it's easily much better than IE!

Why?

For Firefox: download the "fasterfox" add-on. It changes several settings and really seems to work.

I saw a thread on another site Im on in 2004 to make FF faster...

Im on IE6 but I tried it anyway... It said to make MAX CONNECTIONS 48 and when I did HOLY MAIRD!!!!! -- Much faster!!!!! (IE6 default setting is 2)

I think 20 is the most connections any server will allow from 1 location though.. (Im not sure on that)

How to make them faster? Many internet connections require something like 30 or 50 connections also to other sites. Simply terminate those other connections (ie to Facebook, Akamai, etc). Then the browser is not waiting on those other connections before it will complete the connection to the site you want.

Of the three browsers (IE, Chrome, Firefox), I find Firefox to be significantly slower than the other two.

I think its interesting how IE6 default connection was set @ only 2!!! (Quite slow)

That must be cause they assumed everyone was on dialup then.... (And I guess we all were) but man making it 48 makes it quite good on cable!!

Oh wow I haven't heard of anyone using IE for a long, long time :P
