The Squash Drop. Every Thanksgiving when all the family gets together, which averages every two years, we save up the un-cut pumkins and purchase some very large squash (hubbard's) and toss them off the roof of the house or of the top of a tall ladder. Usually by the next summer we have various squash growing out of the garden in front of the house. Who knows how it started but the wife's family has been doing it since they were kids. We then cook some of the squash.

Punkin Chunkin is in southern Delaware, so you see some interesting sights:

Sometimes they go backwards, into the crowd. http://img86.imageshack.us/img86/980...thredliml8.png http://img86.imageshack.us/img86/904...edlinespg7.png http://img87.imageshack.us/img87/552...edlineslr9.png |
That looks like great fun!

Punkin Chunkin's got some of the best-working trebuchets in the U.S.A.
The rest of the year... they have fun storming the castle. |
