2008 - what lays ahead...

It is lays isnt it? no llies ahead?....clod???

Anyways, big changes for me this year....for the first time in over 10 years, I am moving into suburbia....the country girl is moving out of the country and into a built up neighbourhood...with NEIGHBOURS!!!

Selling both of my cars and buying a *sensible* car.

Plus a conscious effort to not be such a loser in love.

Two out of three wont be such a bad thing

What are your plans for 2008? Personal Goals, resolutions....etc

Well good luck. I hope you can adjust. I still can't stand having neighbors or living in a neighborhood. I am moving back to the country as soon as possible.

I couldn't do suburbia and sobriety. I'll take sobriety.

 Well, since you asked...

It would probably be lies, depending on how you mean it. "Lay" indicates that something is doing the laying to something else--I lay the book on the table. "Lies" is a current condition, something already done--a book lies on the table. So the future is a thing that already lies ahead, or it is an entity that is laying things ahead of us. Take your pick.

The really stupid part is that "lay" is also the past tense of "lie," so you would also say yesterday the book lay on the table, and yesterday I laid the book on the table. Moral of the story: English is dumb.

"Don Martin Lays A Head." 'Nuff said. Except I bet it hurt.

I'm hoping for a nice cruisy year in 2008. 06 and 07 were flat chat for us and I'm really feeling like we need to just coast along for a while. Luckily for us, we have no major decisions to make this year, so with a little bit more luck, we'll simply go about the business of being a family and spend some time together.

The Independent weighs in with it's own prediction for '08:

2008: The year a new superpower is born

I hope and pray that by August I have enough of my own real hair to have a pixie hair-do.

:ivy:

Oh, yeah, and world peace! :D

(i'm the only one online right now---all the rest of you are in bed with hang-overs [except me and Griff] aren't you?)

Nice edit. :)
Actually, I awoke with the sore sinus and what feels like a deeply bruised rib from a brutal touch by Snow-Eating Frog at fencing. Sobriety feels a lot like regular life...

TheMercenary 01-01-2008 08:26 AM

World peas.

Give it 90 days. Then you'll be on what the AAer's call "The Pink Cloud"---I"ve been there before and it really is worth it. I grinned like a lunatic for quite a while around 90 days sober.

Whose idea was that, yours or your neighbors?;)
