July 7, 2008: Living On The Edge
In the "Bigger Europe" IOtD the other day, I mentioned that Europe was worrying about overcrowding, in the early '30s. Now I see what they were worrying about.
Ronda, Spain. http://cellar.org/2008/cliffedge1.jpg Bonifacio, Corsica. http://cellar.org/2008/cliffedge2.jpg Castellfollit de la Roca, Spain. http://cellar.org/2008/cliffedge3.jpg On the up side, I guess it's easy to get rid of trash and garbage. |
Yeah.. I'm looking at that lower right inset on the first pic and wondering shurrrrrr they ran a sewer line up from that place.

Manu, what takes you to Corsica? I have French family with property there and many Corsican friends. I have been going since the 70's. Yourself? |

I have also been to Spain. Some city beginning with a 'B' but not Bonifacio...B B bbb ummmm...... on Yeah! Benidorm! With the crocodile and the rain!
Never mind me.... |
...Send the visitors' obnoxious kids out to play in the back yard....
|
Let's see...Houses of dubious structural integrity...constructed on the precipice of certain death...
DONOTWANT!!!!!! I would never sleep. Never. |
Gives a whole new meening to Peeing off the Back Porch !!!
|
Oh. My. God. In the pic from Castellfollit de la Roca, Spain, just above the middle of the pic, on the side of the cliff...Is that a TV antenna? Or a child catcher? Or a gangplank?
|
At least these houses are built on solid rock, even if it is above a cliff. What about all the hillside houses in California right in the heart of landslide/earthquake country?
