I read it.

What will the scammers do when they find out they have junk?

classicman 07-27-2008 11:27 PM

very good

An actor friend of mine also screwed with the Nigerian spam scammers. His name is Dean Cameron. After messing with them, he wrote a play about it with photos and stuff, and it's funny as hell.

I am such a sucker. I actually felt sorry for the man who paid all that money just to get junk.

Yes, I know, I know.
I'm gald he's getting stung at the end of it. Especially because he's based in the UK. It's hard enough trying to buy from abroad without people like him raising everyone's suspicions.

Just as an aside - I bought a top from eBay on Friday. It was 99p with £1.50 shipping. I couldn't be arsed to go to the bank (and pay an admin charge) to get a postal oder, so I wrapped the coins in bubble wrap and sent them. The seller, very sweetly, said it was naughty of me to send cash as there were some dishonest eBayers out there. Bless her. I sent less than the cost of a pint!

SG, you have got to be kidding me. Do you have any idea how many millions of pounds of money and millions of dollars are lost to these scumbags each year? They prey on the most gulible of our society, most who don't have money to lose.

Sundae 07-28-2008 10:38 AM

I do know, honestly.
But I look at him, and where he lives, and figure it's not really working for him...

No - I don't think it's wrong (what the scam-baiter is doing). I just can't help having a twinge. It's just me.

I cried when Medusa lost the diamond in The Rescuers.

Eff the spammers, I hope he loses every time. I just wish there were more people doing it to them. Then they would be "outed" and hopefully arrested or something....

Whenever I get one of those spam e-mails I reply with "Does anyone really still fall for this shit?". They never answer but it makes me feel better doing it. :)

That guy (the failure, aka scambaiter) gave me a lot of good information after I saw his posts. I misused his "contact us" link and he was nice about it.

Keep on keepin on "failure"! I think this is what it is about, letting people know the scams that are out there so they can be informed. That helped me out. Just knowing what to be wary of is good enough for me, but I am glad they are taking the time to take action on it. I am just trying to avoid a situation myself.
