Color laser printer off register, help!

Our color laser printer (Lexmark C510) is printing it's colors off register. Sort of like this.

A quick google search hasn't helped, and I am crunched for time. Has anyone ever successfully corrected this problem themselves? It prints fine, just off register. It was doing this just before I replaced the photodeveloper, on which part of the green shiny part had actually torn at the edge. Did this muck something up?? I just put in a brand new photodeveloper yesterday and that didn't help. The fuser says it has 60+% left. Power cycling it didn't help, neither did reseating all the toner cartridges. I have the sinking feeling it's toast.

Halp!!

Are you sure it's not just printing in 3-D and and you lost your glasses?

Har. Har.

Upon further inspection, when the pd is removed, the transfer roller has a black plastic covering that appears to have slightly walked off the roller. It's all cracked on the one side. I'd take a pic, but camera at home. Maybe tomorrow.

I suspect this is what caused the other pd to tear, and that's why replacing it hasn't fixed the problem. $300 to buy a new transfer roller, plus the $225 we've already spent on the new pd. Grrrr. These things are worse than automobiles.

[evilrat].. You know, I have one simple request. And that is to have a printer with a frickin' laser attached to it! [/evilrat]

I can't believe I have been fucking with this printer for over 2 weeks. I needed to either a) replace the transfer unit for $350 or b) just buy a whole new (same) printer for around $550. We decided to just go with a new printer, and use this one for parts as needed since we just put a $200 part into it, plus have a full set of brand new toners for it.

Pffft.

I tried to buy a new one, but all of the places that said they had it, in fact did not when I actually tried to purchase it. (It is a discontinued model). Then I found one on ebay for less than the cost of the transfer unit. I lost the auction. :mad2:

So, Monday, ordered the replacement part, and it came today. Without installation instructions. OK, guess I'm going to wing it. Turns out, it was an insanely easy fix. Open the back, unscrew 2 screws, pull out the old TU, put in the new one, screw it in and close the back door. I just finished installing it, and so far everything seems fixed.

J.H.C that was a pain in the butt.
