Repetitious Activities

Do you find comfort in doing things the same way every time?
In your experience, do you find that the blessing outweighs the curse?

jinx 12-18-2008 12:21 PM

Put some pants on ya hippie.

Flint 12-18-2008 12:26 PM

How do you know I'm not wearing 80s short shorts?

lookout123 12-18-2008 12:34 PM

cuz I don't think that drum has anything to do with the repetitious activity you were talking about.

Cicero 12-18-2008 12:36 PM

Uggh. He plays the drums in hot pink 80's spandex. (he wears short shorts!) The worst part is, he thinks it makes him really rock. :)

No really, I've made french press coffee the same way for 7 years. People always say I make a great cup of joe. I think it's win win. There's no grand technique, just little practical measures that go into a good pot. If one of those is thrown off, it doesn't taste as good. And I get the most out of my bean without the bitter.

Earl Grey is a finicky Tea, and people screw it up all the time. I watch them dump 16 0zs. of boiling water over the bag, leave it in the cup, and snap the lid on. Nooooz! Then again, I am the only crazy person I know that got a whole set of mugs devoted to the specific qualties that make a good cup of Earl Grey. I do that the same way every time because...why suffer the low quality when you know better?

lookout123 12-18-2008 12:38 PM

It's all about how you flick it, right Cic?

Cicero 12-18-2008 12:42 PM

There is no flickin'. :(

Philistine. ;)

I used to find a whole lot of comfort in doing things a certain way. Then my children utterly broke me, and now I'm happy just to get things done at all.

That sounds very familiar.

HungLikeJesus 12-18-2008 05:27 PM

Flint, I bet you're good at archery or shooting. Aim small, miss small.

ZenGum 12-18-2008 06:24 PM

Flint, keep a close eye on that spot on your leg. If it changes shape, size or colour, itches, bleeds, or has more than two colours in it, see a doctor. It is probably just a regular mole but watch the little beggar. They can turn nasty.

why do people have the impulse to say shit like that?

Flint 12-18-2008 06:36 PM

He trying to out-Monk me.

ZenGum 12-18-2008 07:11 PM

Do you think that was inappropriate, then? Apart from being off thread, but that doesn't stop anyone here.

I was inclined to pass on information which I thought might be useful, and possibly life saving.
Which reminds me; Lumberjim, you are definitely going to die. I don't have the details yet though, but I'll let you know as soon as anything comes up. :p

The same thing happened to me, so now I spend my whole life teaching them 'the right way' to do things. ;)
