Republicans who are vying to lead the national party offered a mix of reactions yesterday to the decision by one candidate for the job to mail out a music CD including the song "Barack the Magic Negro."
Chip Saltsman defended his actions, telling the Hill newspaper that the song -- and others on the CD, which was mailed to party members -- was nothing more than a lighthearted parody. But his rivals in the contest to chair the Republican National Committee said it carried an inaccurate message about what the GOP stands for.
Nah, I think it got the message just right.

Quote:

And former Ohio secretary of state Ken Blackwell defended Saltsman and attacked the media.
"Unfortunately, there is hypersensitivity in the press regarding matters of race. This is in large measure due to President-elect Obama being the first African American elected president," Blackwell, who is black, said in a statement.
Yeah, the media is really the problem here (sarcasm).:right: If these guys parody themselves any more, then SNL, The Daily Show, and the Colbert Report are going to go out of business.

Does anyone remember SNL skewering Jessie Jackson with "Don't Let Me Down, Hymietown" when he got caught using the phrase? With these RNC nutjobs, they don't even have to make up the song.

It is astonishing that a mere 4 years ago, Democrats were considered the disorganized rabble and the RNC was the paragon of 'party discipline'.

I wonder if the 'B' side had "Kennedy the Irish Drunk" or "Pelosi is the P in PMS"?

This kind of childish humor is fine for the wing nuts, but one would expect the party leadership to be smart enough to avoid it. The DNC isn't going to mail this poster to anyone, much as they would like to.

Barack the Magic Negro is a Paul Shanklin parody song that's been played on Rush Limbaugh for the last two years. It's hilarious, and it's obvious satire. Stupid to distribute it on a CD.

Everybody knows it's all about .mp3s these days.

TheMercenary 12-28-2008 01:47 AM

I think it is funny as hell. After 8 years of all kinds of the lowest form of bashing one side the other gets a tiny taste and the next thing you know the whole party is accused of a cross burning. What a load of crap.

If the shoe fits. . .

All these idiots both D's and R's should be called out.

Bush, the Magic Whitey
Lived in DC
And frolicked on Pennsylvania Ave
Lying through his teeth

Etc.

I'm sure no one in the RNC would have been offended if Rush had played this for a couple of years, right?

Rush could have done anything he wanted. But the DNC would never have distributed it.

I saw a bumper sticker on a pick 'em up truck the other day. It read "I'll keep my guns, rights and money, you keep the "change."

I had to laugh. Bubba probably spit a hocker out his window right before headin' into the Wal-mart.

Then I thought about it. I don't remember anti-Bush bumper stickers before the fucker even got into office. In fact, even after he was re-elected I don't recall many, except a few "don't blame me, I didn't vote for him the second time" type.

There are patriotic folks, yes I said PATRIOTIC, who really want this country to get well, not flounder farther so they can say "I told you so."

Merc, and your ilk, I'm glad to see your anti-americanism attitude hasn't dissipated in the least. As I said before, but never heard boo about, I didn't start bitching about the last president until he had a chance to start screwing up the country. You could try to do the same, if you love this country so much (you know the one you claimed to fight for, that freedom you admire so well?)

Undertoad 12-29-2008 10:09 AM

Maybe "stolen election" and/or "not elected, appointed", and/or "not my president" will refresh your memory?

Yeah, but that really happened. Duh.

Seriously, I don't remember bumper stickers...that doesn't mean they didn't exist.

Eh, my point remains. People want to be "right" so badly they'd rather see us all living in the sewers to escape those who would take us over once our country completely tanks than hope for any kind of betterment. Kind of pukey, if'n you ask me.

I don't need to speak for the past 8 years on the back of my car (cue Peter Griffin talking about rednecks needing to express their opinions on the back of their truck); those years have spoken, loudly, for themselves.

If you learned you were wrong about that, would it change your point of view on what you've said in this thread?

Shawnee123 12-29-2008 11:38 AM

No, because my point has nothing to do with whether or not the election was stolen, or what I think of that issue.

There was a perception that the election was stolen which prompted bumper stickers bitching about the election being stolen.

The anti-Obama bumper sticker to which I referred had nothing to do with any actual event, real or imagined. It was, in effect, pre-bitching about the possibility that the change promised in the election would affect that person's lifestyle in a way that person deems unacceptable.

That possible infringement has not even happened, yet. It may, or may not. Future vs. past.

Big difference.

Undertoad 12-29-2008 11:56 AM

No way. What's stupider: bitching about an improbable future, or bitching about a bogus history? I say the history, but any advocate for truth finds both appalling.

It does highlight Penn Jillette's pithy analysis: The Republican party is the party of fear; the Democratic party is the party of hate.

Pick your side; immerse yourself in the facts that support it; ignore or blatantly change the facts that deny it.

Shawnee123 12-29-2008 12:11 PM

Still off from my point.

The PERCEPTION, whether it was true or not, was that it was true.

Improbable future bitching, when our country's morale must be at an all time low, serves nothing.

Bitching about recent history, what you PERCEIVED happened, is a different matter.

Ah well...perhaps you all will get your wish, and we will all lose our jobs, our homes, and will stand in bread lines all day. We can always HOPE to be right.:headshake

All the hate I see, deep-seated, destructive, ugly hate, doesn't come mostly from the party I support.

In retrospect, since we're doing that instead, hating Bush was the right thing to do.

For one more time, all ye word twisters, I didn't "hate" him until I had good reason to. Prolly around the time my ass started hurting.

Undertoad 12-29-2008 12:43 PM

Improbable future bitching?

Anonymous Rightie: "I'll keep my guns, rights and money, you keep the "change."

Shawnee: "We will all lose our jobs, our homes, and will stand in bread lines all day."

Can't see it? You're soaking in it.

Hmm, that sounds like FEAR mongering to me. Which party is supposed to hate and which party is supposed to impose fear? Confused? Yeah, me too. You're not keeping your poking straight.

Whuddever, you're just trying to piss me off a la radar, ug, merc, or any one of you folks who just like to twist people around if that person finally has a reasonable point.

Sickening.

Thanks...buh-bye for now.
