According to WikiP, the name given to him at birth was Eldrick Tont Woods. (I'm not a big golf fan, so excuse me if this is common knowledge.) He's Chinese, Thai, Dutch, African American, and Native American. And he married a Swedish model. The family is so adorable.

I like Tiger.

My dad and brothers a big golfers; they talk about watching Tiger and saying "how in the hell did he just do that?"

aside: dad got a hole in one on a golf trip to FL a couple weeks ago. Very rare occurence, and he was stoked! He got a nice plaque, but initially fashioned a decoy plaque out of particle board, a really bad printed off a computer photo with coffee stains on it, and one of those old fashioned labels where you moved the letters and squeezed the button, and spelled the name wrong. It was funny, he played it up "look at the plaque they sent me for my hole in one" like he was so proud. Funny guy...

by the way, I looked at that picture again now that I'm more awake. It is a great picture. Everyone is so genuinely happy. :)

The Tiger has just returned to competitive golf after 8 months off with a knee reconstruction.

First hole? Birdie.
Second hole? Eagle.
After that he settled down, but still...
Wow. He da man!

He's incredible. Like any really gifted athlete, they make it fun to watch, even if you previously had no interest, and probably sparked interest in a multitude of people. Plus, he's down to earth and the personification of class.
