What are you hopeful about today?

Dazza is on his way to an interview at Bond University for a teaching position that's coming up. He's fairly confident that something will come out of it fairly soon, and I'm sure he's right. I hope it's everything he wants. I think he'll be much happier if he can get away from the place he's at. He's a good teacher, and his students all seem to love him compared to the lack of appreciation he seems to be getting from his current position.

Also, if he gets this teaching position, he'll be able to spend more time on private consulting through his own company which means more money for me to spend. :D

We have a winter weather advisory tonight in my area. I hope it snows like hell. We only get to see it every few years. They shut the whole damn town down if it does. Which means....PARTY!

Dazza just called after his interview. He thinks it's gone really well, but he wont know officially of any offer or what level for about a month.

On the bright side, the dean has asked him to have lunch with him, so I think that's a pretty good sign.

He was headhunted for this position, so hopefully it'll all be good.

Good Luck to him!

If he gets it, we'll save at least $400/month on travelling expenses alone. Probably more. I hope he gets it too. He deserves to be happier in his work because he works very hard...and I'm a demanding wife. :)

Headhunted - follow up lunch ... it's lookin' good!

I am hopefull that we will get some decent rain over the next few days.

Aliantha 03-01-2009 09:57 PM

It'd be good if Vic could get some too.

Meh, we are on EXTREME weather watch for the next two days....so much so that everybody from Victoria, with their mobile number listed anywhere, was sent out a sms message from the Victoria Police...weird!

Mine reads.."Msg from Vic Police: Extreme weather in Vic expected Mon night & Tues. High wind & fire risk. Listen to local ABC radio for emergency updates. Do not reply to this"

First time that I am aware of this happening.

The SMS idea has been in the pipeline for almost four years. It was delayed because various levels of govt. were arguing about who would have to pay for it. :headshake It looks like four years of sodding about gets trumped by a bloody disaster. IMHO, text messages would not have helped much in the big fires, maybe a few people might have been warned earlier than otherwise.

I was wondering what the messages would say: "UR goin 2 die. GTFU NOW!"

There was a lot of hoo - har about the sms thing, some people didnt get the message at all, some got it 4 hours later than everyone else and others got it the following morning.

I like the idea of the sms alerts, you cant rely on them obviously, but they are a good way of getting the message out there.

Aliantha 03-03-2009 04:23 PM

How are your parents doing Ducks? Are they still on alert?

I think the text thing is a good idea. Way better than the previous one, which was basically nothing.

Hey! I have an interview tomorrow!! I may have to do some books but everything else sounds great!!

2 jobs!! Here I come! Not that I look forward to "being a professional".....Meh....That means ironing a lot again...

Uh....Can I have your car so I can go to two jobs? No? Ok I'll figure something out... :) My question? How will I manage a retail store without a car? Damn! Fu**.

Oh I should get the job first then ask questions later? Done!

"Never turn down a job you haven't been offered."
