$25,000 Ghandi Pen - Poor Taste or Giving the Poor a Taste?

Ok, so a charity does benefit by getting %1-%4 of the list price, but is this in good taste?

Quote:

The $25,000 (£16,000) gold and silver limited edition pen has an engraving of Mahatma Gandhi, the man seen as the father of Indian independence and revered as a global spiritual leader.
Quote:

Just 241 of the handmade pens will be sold, in reference to the number of miles Gandhi walked in his famous march against salt taxes in 1930.
Each comes with an eight-metre golden thread that can be wound around the pen, representing the spindle and cotton Gandhi used to weave simple cloth.
Quote:

Gandhi's great-grandson Tushar Gandhi has endorsed the idea. His charitable foundation has already received a donation of $145,000 from Montblanc and will receive between $200 and $1,000 for each pen sold.

Expensive pens is their business, it's who they are, what they do. If they feel they want to honor Gandhi, should they suddenly go head to head with BIC? Should their customer base be deprived of an opportunity to make a gesture of peace and good will, to the man that ruined their empire? Nay, everyone should be able to salute Gandhi, in a manner comfortable to their class and culture.

ps- I understand the Undertoad pen will contain a USB flash drive, preloaded with first class porn. ;)

"If the poor benefit from the sales, let the rich suckers buy them.".... just make it tax deductable.
